Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The funny thing is a lot of us were unhappy giving up pick 23 for Frost.

The Roos mantra has always been that draft picks are speculative and it is often better to take a known commodity. Something our club did not do in the past...

Didn't we get back the ANB and Oscar Mac picks with Frost?

He's not under contract, and nobody else seems to be interested in him. This just doesn't make much sense to me.

Still a big risk - I recall that North Melbourne didn't draft Aaron Davey as there was little interest and thought they would rookie him but we got in first.

If the depth of talent in the preseason draft is negligible then you risk him not getting through to your pick.

To be fair, Frost hasn't actually done anything yet. Looks a likely player but on output, we can't call pick 23 a win or a loss as yet.

But surely we hold all the bargaining chips here. Why don't we offer Essendon a lower pick? They can either take a third rounder or lose him for nothing.

The problem is that commodity has been woeful for the past two years. Mahoney and co are the experts, but it seems overs.

Melksham is a punt in a lot of ways. Here's hoping it's one that pays off.

A 2nd round pick might be overs in another draft year but given I thought it was reported that after the first 20 picks in the draft there was a big drop off in a talent, a 2nd round pick this year may be the equivalent of a 3rd round pick (or lower) in another draft year.

It's not just about the pick number, it's about the talent level of the players you can select at that pick. If the talent in this years draft is low, it might be worthwhile punting away picks outside the top 20 or so for established players if the view is that we'd be unlikely to find a player who could be a regular AFL player at that pick.

Because if they are prepared to lose him for nothing there is no guarantee that we will get him. Brisbane are certainly taking this tack (so far) with Aish.

Sorry P Man - he has not been "woeful" for the past two years. He has not reached the heights of 2012/2013 but to suggest he has been "woeful" is not accurate.

( 9th in their B&F last year - hardly a ringing endorsement but also not quite woeful)

Defantasyland:

  • Howe for pick 10 (via Charlie Dixon trade) from GC
  • Melksham is worth our 3rd rounder 43

These players are roughly equal value.

Meanwhile deals are getting done ...

It becomes far more attractive if we get their third round pick back - effectively downgrading our second pick by 16 places. In a shallow draft we'd be rationalising that we're just a good a shot at picking a decent player at pick 23 as we would be at pick 39.

We did.

Their names are Petracca and Brayshaw.

Surely that's overs

How the kids played 115 games and is 24 years old he had a great 2013 , Watts hasn't had a season like that it's a great win for the club and the kids had those dramas hovering over him now with shadow gone he will show his true worth well done Melbourne I'm so stoked the way Roos recruits the guys a winner.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
