Dawes was asured by the Dees yesterday that he's going nowehere.

Said that there's no way in heck that he'd go to Carlton or Essendon.

Clearly positional play is different to years ago, but most people would understand that it means a strong running key tall with exceptional aerobic capacity that marks on wings, turns his player around and also spends time closer to goal. Hogan had our third most inside 50's, which is evidence of his work ethic.

I'm not sure why this needs explaining. But then I remember the poster I'm answering. A petty bickerer.

I believe we had a nibble at him during the 2012 trade period but he opted to stay on at the Blues.

He is a cracking contested mare, one of the better in the league IMHO. Would be very happy to have him as the second tall forward/ Ruckman but I really can't imagine Carlton letting him go for a reasonable price.

If another tall, who could hold a mark and do ruck work then Chris may decide that it is in his inter sets, if he wants to continue at AFL, to move on. Otherwise he may well spend a lot of time at Casey, if that tall arrives.

I am flattered I have left such an impression on you, even if I disagree with the critique.

He will be the target for this forwardline and when we look deep, with in 30 - if he isn't holding the footy - we would want him, and him alone, attempting to get the footy against his bloke.

He's obviously a nightmare contested marking match-up already, but if it's coupled with having to chase him around all day it becomes ridiculous. Means the opposing team either have to play two defenders on him, one to keep up with him and one to put the body in 30m out, or just let him roam free once he's outside the 50 thinking at least he's not kicking goals.

His opponents would blow up on him absolutely, but they way I want him to use that advantage is in repeat efforts, double leading, leading toward goal - essentially I just don't want him doing 75m leads to centre wing as the norm - like Riewoldt under Lyon.

I don't think a immobile tall behind him really helps us. A more mobile set up with players that can lead up the ground would be ideal. That includes the 2nd ruck/forward - but it will be hard to find a good one that can ruck, play outside the 50, and be mobile. Dawes and Pedersen are not ideal but they meet more requirements than a Levi Casboult.
