I guess it sheds some light on what's been a slight 'down year' for him.

(Makes me wonder about whether Garland has carried anything considering my criticism of his lack of spark and intensity all year).

Unbelievable warrior though Jonesy, lucky to have him.

Didn't even get a free at the time....

Disgracefull maggots.

Waht a hard nut he is. Well done skip!

I love this guy as captain. Puts everything in perspective for his inconsistent year.

Can't wait to see him get back to his best in 2016.

I wonder if it is in some way related to the neck injury he suffered at the end of the 2010 season.

Well there you go.

Remarkable he was able to still perform at the level he did. What a champion. .

back injury, wasn't it?

But maybe neck related...

Every single night, before I go to bed, I tell my missus I love Nathan Jones more than her.

She understands.

ย

Guys got some serious fortitude.

Come out spitting fire next year Nate!

Neck surgery is serious stuff.

It's a bit of a worry.

Peyton Manning had multiple, much more serious operations on his neck and came back to set multiple NFL records (including a single season touchdown record) and make it to another Superbowl. All aged 35+.

Nathan will be fine.

Ouch.

Show of hands now, all the nuff-nuffs who were saying we should trade him.

What a trooper. Get this man a premiership.

A worrior of this club.

Those who questioned his leadership are clueless

Need whatever that bloke has bottled. In gallons! Absolute machine.

Neck operation? Here I was thinking he was made of iron. Best of luck Chunk!

I think it involves a bit of welding.

Absolutely love him and hope it goes well.

+ some titanium bolts.

B grader.

Fmd.

Give it a rest Neeldy.

Rating a player with a letter is ridiculous. The facts are that he is a three time BNF winner, much loved by the supporters and has been our best player for a long time. Unfairly rated by 'supporters' like yourself, and the AFL in general.

IMO.

Well, now I feel like an right [censored]...

I could only comment on what I saw in his performance and it was obviously hindered by a painful injury at times...

Makes you appreciate the big games he put in though...

If this was Nathan Jones playing a seaon injured, he could explode next year.

There was talk earlier in the year that he might have been carrying a shoulder/neck injury. I think against the Tigers on ANZAC eve he copped a hard knock at the bottom of a pack that floored him - looked very uncomfortable afterwards.

Captain, leader, gun.

ย

All the best skipper. Heart and soul of the MFC

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
