It referred the point of choosing clubs. We were his only suitor . He by all accounts wanted out. His choice was...US...or stay.

I think its relevant. No one else was making a bee line to windy hill for him, let alone throwing a 4 year contract under his nose

Jake reminds me a bit of Ted Richards, Roos and his coaching staff did a fairly good job in turning him around after he left Essendon

Welcome Jake

Goodwin: "What are you, Jake?"

Milkshake: "Filling a roll!"

I was looking on the old AFL site and noticed they had video's about the people being traded. The "get excited by" series.... Sadly Jake does not have one... But the young guy Anderson the Roo's have snared has one. He has had about 4 and a half minutes of game time, and he has one! This beg the question, where is the Jake Melksham excitement reel??

This one isn't too bad. (2013)

Sad thing is that I think even Dean Gore was given a highlights reel...

The kid can play. No doubt about it.

Prefer him at 25 than some skinny kid at Casey for the next 18 months

But WADA are yet to speak.

I am worried

There's a Jake Melksham highlight reel on the melbourne website.

Melksham was actually a tidy player in 2013.

Im not fussed if we get kennedy or Bugg but i thinknMelk might work out ok.

People bag him for his recent form rather than the totality of his career particularly before asada wada

Well, after all the large scale debate on here about value and what we should pay he's here.

Welcome to the club Jake. I really hope you do work well with Goodwin and take your game up a notch or two after stalling at the Bombers. I can safely say that every Melbourne supporter will be thrilled if you kick on and become more than a handy depth player.

I reckon people underestimate Melksham because he has a rude head. We are seduced by Howes spekkies. Ill put it to all on demonland that Melksham is worth more than Howe.

Noted.

I watched him a few times last year and he just seemed to get lost with what appeared to be a run with role. Looked ok with the ball and going fwd but got caught out often not being able to go the other way.

Here is hoping he is up to his role and helps us get better.

Yeah that is what I think. Without the WADA situation, pick 25 for Melksham I could live with. But taking into account the prospect of a 2 year ban, I think there are some at the club with compromised views (Goodwin) about Essendon players. The only rational explanation for mine is that the AFL have reassured clubs that they will be compensated - in the face of WADA bans to players.

What's the difference between Jake Melksham and Dom Tyson?

One won Cleo bachelor of the year, the other came 2nd in a smashed crab lookalike competition.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
