Thank you for putting it much more eloquently than I was about it to!

Remarkable and foolish comments, as you say.

If drug detection was an exact science and the agencies actually knew what they were doing ,you would have had Lance Armstrong picked off in his first year and not a whistleblower calling out the Russians.

Supposedly the players at Essendon  took a performance enhancing drug, again it was self reported

What we have seen in the last couple of years is a knee jerk reaction as the authorities try and justify their existence and the money spent

Hence my comment about substances being banned because the authorities have no idea whether they enhance performance or not

Melksham Hibberd et al guilty of being naive.

My opinion, I said SWYL was childish with the constant childish name calling, not the fact that he thinks they took performance enhancing drugs, who says he is right and I am wrong

If you cover your ears and shut your eyes Problems don't exist Satyr.

Essendon shredded all their paperwork in the first 36 hours after Vlad tipped them off. I consider that fact considering the amount of money the club spent.

Have you watched Essendrug games from the first half of 2012??

they were juiced right up with "The Good Stuff" The stuff Hirdy requested...

That's a much better response than your earlier post. I agree with some of your comments. However, it is not up to clubs or players to argue the merits of different substances and products. It is not an exact science as you say. However, banned substances are banned substances and all sportsmen and women have a responsibility to know what they are taking and whether it is banned. No international athlete can say they did not know or that they were mislead by someone else. If you take banned substances knowingly or not you are regarded as a cheat and treated as such if your charge is proven.  Athletes that take banned substances are seeking to gain an unfair advantage over their competition.

these comments are so far off the mark it is comical. seriously, if you don't understand the facts you would be better served by saying nothing. you are just coming across as an apologist and a denier for the performance drugs in sport industry.

If Melksaham and Hibberd make us a better team I could not give a rats. They are clean now and deserve respect if they perform. Too much morality on here and I would guess thtat most on here have sucked on a doobie or taken other dugs. If DL took a drug test on posters here, I'd say see you in two years.

Seriously hope Saty is a massive drug user and DL take a drug testing policy. Some serious delusions of granduer over stating his knowledge and relationship with our playing group

For me it will be interesting to see how Melksham and all the banned players go after being out of the game for 12 months.

The game gets tougher, faster and evolves so much in 12 months. I remember Todd Viney coming back after working in Tennis for a period. Game wasn't as demanding both physically or mentally back then as it is now.

If Melksham can cement a best 22 spot, all of a sudden we start to look pretty good. We've lacked pace and run for quite a while, but all of a sudden we'll have Melksham, Hunt, Stretch, Kent and Harmes that could play off half back. I like it.

A lot are banned as they are not approved for human consumption. The risks of taking them are completely unknown. Athletes need to be protected against unscrupulous clubs, doctors and other sporting bodies.

Ignorance is no excuse for what they consented to.  Zaharakis said no with no consequences, the others could've too and this whole thing would not have existed, instead they agreed to get injections hoping to get an edge on the competition.  They are not innocent little butterflies that have no responsibility for their own decisions.

Why would sports people take them if they aren't thought to be performance enhancing? These drugs should absolutely be banned

at the end of the day Jake has been labeled a drug cheat because he is a professional athlete who took some substances and he cannot prove what they were, he is 100% responsible for what goes into his body, he didn't ask questions of the right people or make enough noise and he's bought this on himself.

there are people who give talks about this stuff before players even get drafted, there is no excuse, regardless of political agendas or how badly run people think ASADA might be, you're responsible for what you take, if you can't prove it you wear whatever comes your way.

having said that Jakes ban is over and i look forward to seeing him in the red and blue in 2017

Yes who says you are right and I am wrong, my point, these agencies are your typical government agency, the occasional win but most the time groping in the dark

Of course there are performance enhancing drugs in sport, but the agencies only plan of action is let's ban everything and hope somebody dobs.

Even the Lachie Whitfield  case only came to light coz an ex girlfriend spoke up

Whatever substance the Essendon players took was exoerimental, there is no scientific proof it is performance enhancing, that was the whole idea of the program to see if it did

I remember the debacle years ago over caffeine, until it was realised you would have to ingest half of Brazil's output before it had a beneficial effect, as I said groping in the dark.

Melksham was guilty of nothing more than naivete,  my opinion, if you don't like it, I'm cool with that

Good God you are really serious

as i said earlier Watch Essendrug games in the first half of 2012. When the drugs were kicking in, later in the year the soft tissue injuries from over use took over...

it's all there...

I never state that precious, others attribute that to me    I always preface my conversations with players with ' I had a chat to' I am under no illuusions  unlike others on here

Sorry to disappoint you but I am fiercely anti drug, which is why I find the approach of the agencies tasked with eradicating drugs in sport farcical

I always enjoy posters who have to resort to childish comments as they don't have the wherewithal to debate an issue

And your stand on drugs is?

The soft tissue injuries resulted from young players being overtrained by the 'Weapon'  the fact the players were quite good has no impact

They were charged with taking a banned substance, show me the scientific research, from a reputable source, that says thay substance does enhance performance

As every athletes physiology is different if you are going to be a drug cheat you have to have an individual program tailored for you specifically, not blanket injections and let's see what happens

Dank, Robinson and Hird had everybody conned including the agencies

It is totally irrelevant whether or not the 'experiment' worked.  They weren't experimenting to see if they could find drugs that would slow the players down or make them better lovers or compose better symphonies than Beethoven.  They were trying to cheat in the game we love. Full Stop.

Please everyone, stop quoting Saty. It circumvents the ignore feature that many of us enjoy.

Saty is in his natural state of "full defence", because we are talking about a M.F.C player. Defend defend defend, beyond all rational thought.

Please don't assist him to ruin yet another thread.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
