He'll lose his licence for 2 years because of this. Godawful judgement at the worst time imaginable.

Smart move really. Imagine the headlines if he taken the breath test and blew the bag apart. I'm thinking he was plastered.

Ignored a stop sign, didn't have his P plates on, refused breath test so likely drink driving, lost licence for 2 years.

Yeah, don't think Roos will have much interest in someone with decision making like that. Almost certainly zero chance for pick 3 now.

If it's some secret strategy concocted by another team to make him slide, and he's dumb enough to be complicit in such a scheme despite legal ramifications and a police record, why would we want anything to do with him?

In either scenario there are serious red flags about his character and his judgement.

Jack Darling slept with a girl in a tent on school camp. This guy is pulling this rubbish the week before he's due a massive contract. At his size, his career could really go either way, with his decision making he's clearly on the back foot now.

Geelong Falcons regional manager Michael Turner and Curnow’s manager, Paul Connors, provided a statement to the AFL and clubs this morning saying the player had made “a poor choice”.

“He was pulled over by police for driving through a stop sign. A breath test was requested to which Charlie, in his moment of panic, refused,” the statement said.

“He was taken to a police station. Charges against Charlie could be being drunk in public, refusing breath analysis and not displaying P-plates.”

Curnow was in Melbourne’s sights at pick 3, while Essendon also has a strong interest with picks 4 and 5.

A source said the incident was “a wake-up call that he must learn from”.

Another talent expert said the incident could dampen Curnow’s draft prospects at certain clubs.

“If you had a question mark over him already, you wouldn’t take him now,” the source said.

“But, if you were really hot on him, you would still take him.”

LOL

He refused his breath test "in a state of panic."

Which is such a normal reaction for a sober driver to make. That's all every sober driver does when pulled over by a booze bus.

Someone has consulted their lawyer handbook.

Or Dayle Garlett

Oh they are so similar stories FFS

Darling - Played up at school camp and got king hit

Garlett - drug issues, history of trouble with Police,

About the only similar characteristic they had was they both thought their ability would get them through

Missing the point mate.

Simply pointing out that for every kid that makes a dumb decision but still makes it there's 3 that don't.

Every case is different.

Stuie lets not derail the thread, I know both stories very well in regard to Garlett & Darling.

Every case is different as you say and it is very much the case with these two. The press only knows a minute amount of what DG was up to

Way too much of a coincidence and smells rotten to the core - definitely a set up.

Sounds like a conspiracy...more just a dlckhead !!

Oh please someone sets up going through a stop sign then refuses a drug test loses their licence for two years and then has a record to manipulate the Draft!

Beggars belief.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
