On the inconsistency week to week:

Internally they are setting Melbourne up for a sustained period of success and believes its going well.

Relying on the younger players to perform too much on game day, thinks fatigue is an issue.

On Hogan:

Comparing him to Josh Kennedy on the type of player he will end up being (big on chasing and forward pressure)

Very driven to be the best he can be, good understanding of the game. "He has some frustrations he needs to temper, not always going to get it on a silver platter as a forward"

When asked what he would be most worried about if he had to play on him he said his ability to always be moving, his agility and his quickness off the mark, thinks he needs to work on his leading patterns.

Tom McDonald feeling confident going into the season after spending the pre season defending against him

On Lumumba's year:

Thinks people judge him too much based on his possession count, happy with his contested game. Gives a lot of energy on field. Getting used to a new role on the wing. Thinks his best footy for Melbourne is ahead of him.

On Roos:

Game plan when he first came in was very similar to his Sydney game plan, game had evolved and Roos has made changes this year to reflect that.

About Harry, he said they had a bet with the Collingwood coaches about how many games he would play this year and they need to keep playing him to win it. But just in case, they laid it off with a bet of how many turnovers he will make. It's looking good on both counts and will fund the end of season trip.

This interview is a great example of why Jade has remained in the coaching department at Melbourne. Terrific breadth of knowledge about the game and impressed with his honesty and positiveness about players.

As quoted "highly desirable among the coaching ranks". I hope he sticks around. An asset IMO.

WTF does he mean by this? Are we running marathons during the week to help us achieve sustained success in the future?

You would hope so, as I would hate to see it get worse

It means we are being set up to win contested ball like the dogs have been. And then once that foundation is set.. The game plan will be more viable to attack, because we will be creating more pressure to make turnovers and kick higher scores..

They don't have an app any more, just go to their website and look for audio clips/highlights/podcasts

Lumumba has a contested game? All I've seen is him trailing his opponent by 5 metres on every occasion, flailing his limbs about wildly. If he was anyone else he would have been at Casey for the past two months.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
