6 - McDonald ( versatile performance and no coincidence we lifted when he went on ball )

5 - Vince ( far from his best but at least he racked up possessions )

4 - Viney ( lost in the first half mire , but redeemed in the second)

3 - Harmes ( still very rough but his endeavour couldn't be faulted)

2 - Dunn ( held up well despite the onslaught and wasn't embarrassed)

1 - Hogan ( for 3 goals , little else)

6 - McDonald - one of a few bright sparks yesterday. Poor guy got burnt by his teammates in the back 50 but stood up strongly.

5 - Watts - first 3 quarters were great and 2 important contested marks. If his team mates moved and lead when he had the ball (looking at you Bail) we wouldn't have the silly turn overs

4 - Hogan - how did he get 3 goals? Seriously with our delivery!

3 - Viney - strong second half to help get us some respectability

2 - Harmes - 9 tackles. Some disposal error but 9 tackles

1 - Grimes - 2 good quarters of football where he just controlled the football. Was going to give to Michie who played a solid second half but Grimes was switched on from minute one.

6. McDonald (Dominant, back to his best despite some errors)

5. Viney (This kid is a jet, always in awe when I watch him)

4. Watts (Played well despite errors)

3. NJones (Down on form at times but still in the top)

2. Hogan (Did well, even at the centre bounce, except for THAT handball)

1. Michie (I don't even like him and hope hes delisted but he did play well today)

6 Viney (When umpires realise that a player will bend down to pick up the ball and is not 'ducking', Viney will get 4 more kicks every outing)

5 McDonald (5 costly turnovers in the first 45 minutes but didn't drop his bundle and worked back into the contest in a different role)

4 Watts (our best in first half when all else was diabolical)

3 Hogan (3 goals from limited entry)

2 Harmes (Takes the game on... a lot in common with S Tingay at the same stage)

1 N Jones (kept trying to lift lazy, bamboozled mates with limited success)

6 McDonald (After a couple of early howlers he just kept taking game on. Move to ruck was smart tactic)

5 Viney (Kept at it as he always does)

Hard from here and plenty of psuedo-worthy candidates.

4 Dunn (not smashed by Redpath)

3 N.Jones (was classy when he got it, but getting it wasn't easy)

2 Watts (looks better in air these days)

1 Garlett (probably unfair on Harmes, but both applied pressure - Jeffy just a bit classier).

I left at half time at which point McDonald was stinking it up

His second half must have been seriously awesome to earn 6 points. Good work by him.

I left half way through last quarter (considered leaving halfway through the first) but here it goes

6. Viney (shows more heart and endeavour than the rest of team put together)

5. Hogan (keeps presenting and crashing packs)

4. Dunn (composed and the Torps)

3. McDonald ( defensive errors but also many saves)

2. Watts (if only he can stop those 2-4 most ridiculous errors)

1. Garland ( pick from a hat)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
