I wish Callum, Fraser, Abbie, Rory and Nelly who couldn’t play footy with the tree in the way would play for MFC. They'd do better than many of our 'AFL' players.

How pathetic can a city council become??

I mean really...

Reading the story it wss a mistake which has been corrected

A minor stuff up nothing more

These lazy stupids sods charge $1,000's per year in rates

To waste our time and put restrictions on what we can do

Some of these fat cats earn a CEO wage by being on a coucil...

It was a mistake acknowledged by the council and fixed

Not exactly an indictable offense or emblematic of a deep malaise or failing of government

At the risk of being a bit too serious for this thread, how can such a mistake occur? Shouldn't somebody have (ahem) twigged that it just might not be the best place to plant a tree before they actually did so?

When head gardener Wally Mowdoen was asked to comment he said "I can't see the problem". blind_man.gif

There are a lot of halfwits in the workforce. Every industry has them.

i think maroondah council are going out on a limb here

There could be something published by Leader Melbourne in the next few weeks that will match this.

A new fish ladder was constructed at Dights Falls. After being opened to the public for 2 months it was closed because the grid mesh over the top didn't allow for wheel chair access. They closed the fish ladder down for 2 years whilst scientists got involved to provide the criteria of how much daylight and air was required for access to the water.

Now wheel chairs can fit, but the grids are so close no-one can see the water let alone fish.

Edit: It has now been closed again

If this tree blossomed at Melbourne we would worry about when he leaves,or waiting for the next Flower.

What is clear is that he is being played out of position.

They expect him to grow into a role but will need to manage greenstick injuries.

At least he wont bough to his opponent.

At the Sherwood football club (Brisbane), on the juniors oval a tree overhangs the goals at one end. Sometimes the kick at goals is high enough to hit the tree but still be in play.

didnt occur to anyone to build using two styles of grid ?

One close grid in the areas the wheels of chair would likely use and more open elsewhere .

Not that hard really is it

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
