If I've learnt anything from my time as a Melbourne supporter, is to expect nothing

I expect us to lose all 3, because that's how I cope best

Yeah Jaded ...correct..... effing sad but true.

melbourne seems to be at its weakest when it thinks it'll win.. i think this gets into their heads off field. arrogance breeds complacency. see http://www.carltonfc.com.au/footy/ladder

Jeez, we must have a whole beach to ourselves by now. How many line in the sand games have we played recently?

It's all gone into an hourglass which won't expire until September 2016

This is three winnable games without a doubt. Realistically the only one that should trouble us is the Saints who are on fire right now. I do however see possible issues this Saturday. We face the Bombers on the back of a thrashing and with renewed media pressure. I have a feeling that they are going to rally and throw everything at us. On top of that we are coming back from the Darwin road trip which was once again placed after the bye instead of before it (well done AFL), and traditionally we struggle to recover from this trip and fade out of games the next round. While we deserve to be favorites, I think this is a big danger game for us.

I think the changes we made should counter the fact we are coming back from Darwin

and Gus only played 5 minutes

Next 7 weeks no travel, all winnable games. Barring major injuries we're a chance. Would love to beat pies/North.

Pies have lost their last 3 and we went with them most of the day on QB

As expected they arent as good as they thought they were. We can beat them no doubt

I think we can, having said that they're a key fwd away from being a great side. Poor goal kicking or lack of it has cost them three possible wins.

The pies contested ball work and pressure is very consistent and very disciplined. They don't drop out of games like we do. They're significantly better than us because of this alone.

3 very winnable games, a shrinking injury list, a decent first half of the season. Hmmmmmm, we'll lose all 3 by that form. Very very nervous.

The beach is criss-crossed with lines. It means nothing anymore

When was the last time we were able to say, "8 of the next 9 are all winnable"?

We have a super easy draw by any team's standards. If we don't finish with 8 wins it'll be a massive failure. If we end up with 6 or fewer wins it would make it very hard to crack 35k members again next season.

I'll just be content with a 40 point win this week. Melbourne supporters shouldn't throw around 8 from 9 ever!

Why not? The win over Geelong showed that the penny has dropped with this group(by group I mean 2/3 of the list). Players like Angus and VB and Hogan turn up to win every week.

Those 8 games are all winnable, whether we turn up or not is a different matter. It's understandable that not many think we can go a streak because of the crap that's been served up for so long.

All games are winnable, but not realistically. Love your optimism but.

Correct, but 8 out of the next 9 are all realistically winnable.

The Freo game is winnable, but unrealistic to expect a win.

We should go into 8 of the final 9 rounds expecting a win.

It's unrealistic to think we will win all 8. It's realistic to think we can win any of those 8, though.

Given we managed to get ahead of them, albeit briefly, I'd imagine if we can string together a consistent four quarter effort, which we have done a few times this year, we'd beat them easily.

Reasons I think we can......

We don't have Grimes/Toump/Jones/Bail play.

First 7 games in Melbourne. The ES hoodoo crap can just like the SS ended three weeks ago.

We can get on our own roll.

Salem and Kent to come back giving ANB and Stretch a rest.

Obviously no more injuries would go a long way.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
