Changes vs Essendon

We have to reduce the number of talls, especially given we've got Essendon who don't have one ruckman, let alone two. I'd say in that regard Spencer is on the chopping block.

Other than that, Bail, M Jones and Howe need to be looked at, Brayshaw might not get up, and I'm not sure how ANB and Stretch will pull up after the Darwin game.

Casey played well today so hopefully there are some players to choose from. I'm not sure whether Michie and Newton have done enough at Casey to get recalled - they have been sent down there for a reason I assume, and I don't know whether they have fixed whatever they've been asked to fix. Who else is there? Harmes? Will Lumumba be fit?

In: Lumumba, JKH, Newton, Harmes
Out: Brayshaw (inj), Spencer, Bail, M.Jones

Assuming Gus pulls up ok & Lumumba recovers from his mystery injury, I'd make 3 changes for next week.

IN: Fitzpatrick, Kennedy-Harris, Lumumba

OUT: Bail, M. Jones, Spencer

FB: Dunn, T. McDonald, Jetta

HB: Garland, Fitzpatrick, Cross

C: Lumumba, N. Jones, Tyson

HF: Brayshaw, Dawes, Kennedy-Harris

FF: Howe, Hogan, Garlett

FOLL: Gawn, Vince, Viney

INT: Neal-Bullen, Toumpas, Watts

SUB: Stretch

EMERG: Harmes, Newton, Spencer

Harmes to debut if either Gus or Lumumba aren't right. Newton stand-by for the other.

In: Lumumba, JKH, Newton, Harmes

Out: Brayshaw (inj), Spencer, Bail, M.Jones

Hoping Gus will be ok.

He's gone to hospital so I highly doubt we'll see him next week

Not worth the risk even if he is ok

Spent the whole of last week arguing for Fitz inclusion at the expense of Spence but yet would consider the current ruck tag-team in this one. Horses for whatever I'm going to bed.

4 outs are pretty simple, Brayshaw injured, Spencer, Bail, Matt Jones. Howe as well if we can find a replacement.

Finding 4 or 5 ins is harder.

JKH. Lumumba if fit. Harmes. Fitzy. Grimes if fit.

FB: Dunn Fitzy Jetta

HB: Garland McDonald Lumumba

C: Watts Jones Toumpas

HF: ANB Dawes Tyson

FF: Garlett Hogan JKH

Foll: Gawn Viney Vince

Int: Stretch Cross Grimes/Howe

S: Harmes

Might be the week to try one of McDonald, Garland or Dunn forward as well if we can get Fitzy, Lumumba and Grimes in the side.

In - Terlich, McKenzie

Out- M Jones, Bail

This must be a windup?

It's just precautionary.

Love these selections!

It's just precautionary.

Precautionary week off then.

Positive tweet from Brayshaw. XRays all clear. Don't want to risk him if there's any doubt but if he's good to go he'll certainly stay in. He'll have fresh legs that's for sure.

we bloody missed having him out there today. Goes to show what a star he can potentially become if the loss of a 19 year old who has only played 12 games, affects our team so much.

Pleasing news re. Brayshaw. I expect him to play next week then.

In. Lumumba, Fitzpatrick

Out. Bail, Spencer

Lumumba is a given, and can come in for Bail who has been pretty hopeless all year. Can't kick, can't mark and can't tackle properly. Tries hard and runs hard but he's the first out.

Fitzy is just a little bit more flexible than Spencer. We can throw him onto Daniher if Tommy Mac or Dunn get carved up. We can throw him forward and he can help out in the ruck. Spencer competes but is a dinosaur and fairly useless in most areas.

Matt Jones can stay, but him being a mainstay at the moment just makes me want vanders, Salem and Kent to hurry up and get fit. I'd consider bringing back the more skillful Newton too.

If Lumumba and Grimes are fit Id be tempted to send McDonald to the Magoos to find some form, we really need him to fire up.

So are we just playing Howe to keep his currency up? Because seriously, he could not be more obviously out the door.

Sick to death of these pea hearts playing for us that obviously have no intention of getting us off the bottom.

I think it's partly this, and partly because we have nobody that can replace him. A disinterested Howe is still a much better option than one of the usual suspects from the 'trash can', and all of our kids that are even close to ready for the AFL are playing already.

He might be in trouble when (if) our injury list starts to shrink.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
