GAME DAY - Round 14

Recommended Posts

We are but soft butter, being run through like we're not there. It's gonna be an almighty thumping.

Commentator says we have problems with the WC forward line. That's not true. The issue is the lack of pressure in the midfield. As others have said, we're conceding the extra man in defence. They win the ball in their backline too easily and we simply run back and let them run it up the field uncontested. They then have an unpressured pass into the 50 from pretty much CHF, allowing them to put it anywhere in the 50 at will. No backline can defend against that. Our mids need to pull their weight and actually pressure that rebounding run rather than just turning their backs and running towards the defensive 50.

The umps seem to like Hogan, which is handy.

But they hate the rest of us. 3 shocking frees to eagles 20 metres out and we can't buy one. Holding the ball rule is either an Eagles free or play on if we have them.

Mix of talls and stalls looks to have backfired massively.

Gus is actually a big out, which is a credit to a kid with half a season under his belt.

Big turnaround needed in this quarter otherwise this one could get away very quickly.

Instead of long bombs and attempting species in the fwd line how about delivering to the forwards advantage? WC are doing this perfectly. Create space, lead into space, deliver to advantage and take mark inside 50. I know it's not that simple, but WC make it look that easy.

Midfield letting us down. Our games are won and lost right there. Doesn't look good. Let their rucks get 50 hitouts. We need to stop their run. Their hitouts to advantage is embarrassing.

Can't believe how dumb we were to go with two rucks in these conditions. West Coast are the perfect team to go small against. ANB and JKH would be eating this up. Instead, one was sub and the other isn't playing.

We are too tall, too slow, too cumbersome.

Flights cancelled in and out of Bali due to volcanic ash so stuck here for 1 or 2 days.

Match is on TV but having seen the 1st quarter I think I might as well re-join the kids in the pool and drink some more Bintangs...

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
