No harm in just signing a simple 1 or 2 year contract extension with Adelaide and delay his free agency. It gives him a chance to just put it out of his head, focus on footy and see where the chips fall for both clubs in 12 months time.

If he waits, I think he'll find Geelong fall in a heap and Adelaide actually contend within a year or two.

When I was referring to the environment I meant the club. Collingwood spend millions in their football department and have invested heavily in Cloke most recently hiring a sports psychologist. We've all seen the results. You can either kick or you can't.

Wouldn't it be all so much easier if we could get our hands on the all knowing file that grades all players A through to F, would make recruiting so much easier.

If Geelong don't get Danger, it leaves them cap space to go after another gun mid. Maybe Prestia and/or Treloar.

We'll have better picks to trade for Prestia or Treloar than Geelong, plus Prestia will play for us or stay at gc.

Patty's manager Paul Connors flew into Adelaide today. He'll be meeting with Patrick either tonight or tomorrow.

He is out of contract and with his current form could hold us to ransom which could cripple our chances to secure more miss. We have Spencer Jamar and Pederson who can all ruck still on our list and I am sure they would al fill the void fine if Gawn is traded

all clubs are desperate to improve, & the power clubs whom are down on knees, are more desperate than a cornered rat.

they will pay handsomely to improve in chronic weal areas to show improvement, to themselves (the coaches), & their supporter base, before they turn ferral.

Maxxy has some value now; as he's improving but his ability ceiling is as big a question mark, as his weight over his knees is. some clubs would willingly shellout to fill their weak ruck brigade.

the Blues would have a few players we could use in our list, & some Roosy & Co get get into the heads of to get them playing top-line footy. we're no slouches in ruck just not in the best 4, or 5... but we do Ok.

..... our weakness is quality runners with speed, & skills, & ability, in equal measure. and also another Key Marking Forward... carlton have a few players that fill the player types.... & their rucks have been plaid.

look to the Cats, they are after what we want. the Cats have a young Ruck I'd like us to talk to, Nathan Vardy, who we could turn into that follower type.

I really hope that he succeeds regardless of where he's playing next year. He's done a lot for this club that has hurt him as a footballer and he is just another product of the poor development that has plagued Melbourne.

No...He's been lucky to get on the park. Spent a lot of his career injured.

Whilst I think Watts is playing good footy now I don't think you can just write of NicNat as a show pony. He's a critical part of WC improvement this year.

We have been the Super Top Up spot too often in the past.

I think picking up a player like Kelly would give us an extra win (and a little less whinge from you old dee).

Honestly, for all that I have a lot of respect for that group of players, I don't think any of them are suited to the 'end-of-career consulting contract' we'd be taking them for.

Cross clearly had time left in the game and the Dogs made a bad mistake dumping him, almost as bad as our own club's decision to toss James McDonald. We got lucky, got him cheap, and he has been everything we hoped for.

We should be looking to add players at the free agency age or approaching it, who match our deficiencies. My own thinking is that players like Isaac Smith, Stephen Hill, even the currently out of form but 100% [unknown substance] free Zaharakis, are all at the right age and would each be a valuable addition of speed and 'threat' to our midfield.

The thing is these players would all command a first round pick plus 6% of the salary cap.
