So much for the 'rumour' last week that Hawthorn were into him big time. Ha!

What I like about the young brigade signing up beyond Roos' tenure of 2016, is it signals they are confident in and believe in Goodwin as well.

how to say this nicely

FCUK YOU HAWTHORN !!!! there :)

.....and you're a bunch of snobs too!

Might have come from Petracca...LOL.

...a little bit like the Elliot rumour.

but...but...we were told he was going to hawhorn

things are tough when you can't trust rumours anymore

Great news. A top 5 pick should have an automatic 4 year contract anyway but it is always good to see commitment from the young talent.

Set up for a big 2016.

I wasn't overly worried about Petracca but after the Scully/O'Rourke/Boyd epidemic of recent years, anything was possible. Great news.

A few weeks back on AFL Game Day, they put a list of Melbourne's young guns up on the screen and asked our skipper which one excited him the most. Without hesitation he said Petracca, a big wrap given Hogan was on the list too.

Can't wait to see him in action.

Why does the idea that another club is into a player big time get questioned or surprise anyone. What do you think our recruiting staff do with their week besides watch footy basically on the weekends. The recruiters/list managers are constantly meeting with copious qty's of managers and other list managers to see where their players are at and telling them all that they are welcome at MFC. I would suggest we are into numerous players big time.

However as we know, there are only a limited amount of trades that go through due to the system and the players themselves.

We got an interesting insight into Frost with the club admitting he had been on the radar for quite a while. The first approach to him certainly wasn't made during the draft period.

Very happy to have him extend...

here's to a Hogan/Brayshaw style start to his career from round 1, 2016

From the pre-draft reports and all the descriptions, absolutely a bit of both!

Terrific news.

For a long time the question has been asked over and over, "Does Melbourne have a future?"

We are starting to get a few 'yes' replies.

They may well have been. Who knows (or cares now)?

I was never worried about him going, but it's the symbolism of these signings that matters to me. Our young players are clearly investing in the club. I love it.

I thought he was the Petraccattack?

Im saving that one for round 1 2016 when he slotted his 5th goal

Im saving that one for round 1 2016 when he slotted his 5th goal

If he kicks 5 goals on debut, I'll be shouting "Petraccattack b*tches!!!" from my rooftop.

And when a passerby asks me, "Petraccattack? What a clever nickname. Did you come up with it yourself?", I'll reply, "yes, yes I did. Glad you like it."

Great news btw.

Fantastic news!

He and Trengove have been posting from rehab on Instagram recently. Petracca is looking a million bucks!

Trimmed down a lot but still built like a brick outhouse- has the body of a seasoned 25yo.

Not only does his resigning bring Brayshaw, NB, Stretch, Frost, Toumpas, Salem and Tyson along, but it will make the Sheils of the world see merit in investing in us also! Our list has just got better and I hope that Trengrove can also be a part of it.

Act of faith by both club and the boy. The club could have waited given the knee injury so this act of faith must have impressed the boy and his family. Yet he could have waited to see who would come sniffing.

Overall the willingness of many of our youngsters to sign up is great news and speaks volumes for their belief in the coaching staff and the clubs direction. Also gives the club stability in our playing group and avoids all the rumour and innuendo over contract talks.

A fit Petracca and Tren will have a huge impact on our midfield. Big bodies and x factor

"Coach Paul Roos has said although Petracca’s recovery from injury could see him return by the end of the season, the club will take no risks with his long-term future and will focus on having him fit for 2016."

Glad Roosy is coach because as we would all love to see a glimpse late this season, his long term health is far more important than a few cameos and the risk of further injury
