Look at the other post "Changes for Round 2" and you will find a myriad of suggestions (though none of them are easy)! There is little consensus so just as well that Demonland does not have responsibility for picking the team!

Even though some in the Changes for rd 2 thread think they do!

I'm not complaining, we had nearly 40 players out there again today, all fit, I spoke to Jack Grimes, he said the guys who missed out are all determined to get back in, there is no sulking

On another point, think the days of Fitzy the forward are over, spoke to a few of the 'Casey' players from the weekend, he had another solid game in defence, spoke to the man himself and he is feeling more and more comfortable back there.

So Saty can you tell us more about training itself, rather than telling us about the questions you asked the players?

We got one line of "ball movement and stoppages the focus" - did you pay any attention to who lined up where, any indication from training itself if Dawes and/or Vince are in line for an immediate call up etc? Can you elaborate more on the actual training itself?

The rest of your post is fluff.

How is Grimes coping do you think, after going from Captain to average performance at Casey.

If there is a specific drill where the groups break into where they are going to play, I post that, they didn't the groups were mixed, during all the drills

Already covered Dawes and Vince, and we know where they play

I don't know how you can expand on ball movement and stoppages, it becomes waffle

Think the big scar he has on his face had something to do with his performance, wore Gawny's hip early on, he is fine, he has always put the club/team first.

He is like the rest who didn't get picked, you get up and running for Casey and demand to get picked

McKenzie is setting the example in this, again another one who never gives less than 100% for the club, no matter where he plays

No worries.

I'll wait for another report then if it's forthcoming for more info related to training.

Hope he learns how to hold his position and use his body better than on the weekend! But as its a new position he has at least a year to get used to it & make it his own!

TDI did you see Kent? How was his eye and was there any comment on Shaw only getting 1 week for basically assaulting Kent, splitting him open and possibly concussing him??

Kent was Kent at training, made no comment on the week for Shaw, said he was fine, nice two stitches under his eye

Jetta copping a bit of flack for staying down which I thought based on his recent performances was unlikely so not surprised to hear he has a concussion.

How bad is it and will he miss this week?

Shaw should have been given at least 2 weeks, one for the hit and the other for his terrible "Gold Coast" surfer haircut and did I see a goatee?

Here is another bit for those that like 'fluff' and maybe the new mindset

Myself and another watcher saw Watts before the training started, asked whether that was his best game, said if he hadn't fluffed a couple of kicks it would have been an ok game, but certainly not his best

Why I specifically asked him, think he got a bit of a word from medical staff after the game, he is fine, did ok in the test before training, should be ok, said he didn't want Bennell kicking goals if he was off the ground

Wasn't me that said it, it was Roos, watch his presser

I will, but he would have meant throughout the year, not one game.

Or perhaps you could turn up yourself and do better.

Quite frankly, I'm sick of this unnecessary sniping for absolutely no good reason. There will be zero tolerance for this sort of thing in future.

We should be happy we're getting the reports, particularly after a good win like the one we had on Saturday.

For Wiseblood

One of the kicking drills involved a kick out from a point, with the players practicing their running patterns to create space

Another was a cross field kick to a player who then feigned a kick inside and kicked down the line

Another drill involved more attackers than defenders, with players taking turns, the idea was to take the correct option and to wave run

Another drill involved body to body work, mainly amongst the big guys, although they did have Watts matched up against Dawes

McCartney was again working with ANB, had Toumpas knock him around one on one so he gains even more confidence in his knee

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
