The game starts late in the afternoon on Friday and it's against a team cobbled together of the rump of the Essendon list so it's not really an exciting draw card is it?

I'm wondering whether we'll go for a strong side or whether we'll rest a few and go for some of the younger blood.

Just hoping for no injuries really- hopefully they put them on a weak dose of drugs this week and gave them the bad thymosin, so they'll be a bit off their game. What a farce this is!

Look on the positive side. Maybe we can blood a few players and instil into the team that it is possible for Melbourne to win at Etihad! Hopefully we can remove the bogey before the season proper.

That's what I thought after the win against Richmond in NAB 1 last year. Alas, St Kilda put an end to that thought process.

worst possible preparation for round 1.

why the [censored] should our club suffer for the mistakes of theirs?

what a disgrace they are.

Gws, st kilda and mfc. Bottom 3 sides. And Newbold complains about equalisation measures.

Hope Brayshaw gets a crack in this game. Wouldn't mind giving Fitzy a run either.

I actually can't wait for this game. The wife and entire family of in laws are mad Essendon, mother in law completely in denial about the whole cheating drugs thing and still thinks Golden boy is completely innocent of all wrong doing. Apparently it's entirely ASADA and AFLs fault.... Anyway

Few things make me happier then the Dees beating the Dons. Pre season or not, half a list or full side, I can't wait to smash them again.

GO DEES!

And they play Swans and Hawks round 1 & 2 - two teams you'd expect them to lose to anyway. Players back for round 3 is what I'm assuming the AFL is/was banking on.

The wife's a looker and I'm really starting to like her so I'll keep her around.

There's no way Essendons getting the kids though

The rampage sounds interesting though...

How did she pass the pre- nuptial checks?

I am probably going to be taking our Japanese exchange student for his only taste of footy while he is here. Not a great drawcard, but beating Essendon will help!

And the two premiership favourites get an incredibly handy percentage booster to start the season off, further mocking the "equalisation" of the league.

Fair dinkum joke.

It is a shame that we crashed against the Saints in the first round last year, after actually beating a genuine contender at Etihad for the first time in yonks.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
