I would rather get into Maynard's ear now and try and convince him to declare us, as where wants to go and then deal for him and Kennedy for Howe.

I would then see if we could get another player like maybe Grimes, to go to GC with 6, for 3 and a pick back to use on Bugg.

pick 3 is still possible. Mahony seems to be desperate for it. Send whatever we get for Howe to GC, along with pick 6 and a late pick, for pick 3 and 35

Followed by using 43 on Bugg and 35 on Kennedy.

Yeh he is saying that now, but why else were we negotiating with Gold Coast in the first place if he wasn't happy to move there? I don't think the club would get deep into negotiating a trade without knowing the player is a good chance to want to move there. His manager has said a lot of things, less said about him probably for the best.

I bet they had this deal stitched up a year ago and the recent bali meeting was a cover. You don't just meet a coach half way through trade week and agree to go to their club. Going on the actions of the manager and player all year it has all the hallmarks.

No Im not.. but in trade weighting it had been postulated that Howe and Six was worth 3 and a second rounder

I think the proposed trade between Gold Coast and Melbourne was as follows:

Melbourne In: Pick 3 (2,234 points), Pick 35 (522 points)

Gold Coast In: Pick 6 (1,751 points), Howe

That makes Howe worth 1005 points, perfectly in line with Mahoney saying Howe is worth a late first round / early second round pick e.g. pick 17 (1,025 points) or 18 (985 points).

Therefore I think we will go to Collingwood and say we want 1000 points worth of picks.

Not sure how it will happen if they spend them on Aish and Treloar....

Despite all the emotion being expressed about MFC not taking a hard enough line, can anyone who is not hot under the collar tell me what they can do other than force him into a draft for which we get nothing (except perhaps worse relations with our players). The system is the constraint here - Howe would have had to agree to go up to the GC.

And this whole "they shouldn't nominate a club!1!" rigmarole is a bit rich coming from a bunch of people that would take a similar desire from a player like Prestia to come to Melbourne next year as leverage to screw over GC...

We have got to deal with what is in front of us and make the most of it.

And I believe Howe can go through the National Draft, and not the PSD, where he is possibly more likely to make it through to Collingwood.

The manner in which Howe has conducted this is unprofessional but we can't respond in like.

For all the angst here we don't even know what the deal with Collingwood is yet. They may work with us to get us what we want because that gets them what they want.

Business is business. Get over it and get on with it.
