Reckon brayshaw gets a run during the nab cup? Or is he still sore

Posted

You don't rate Bail despite him playing most games last season?

I don't mind Bail, and from what I've seen at training, he'll be used as a running backman. I'd really like all of our back 6 to be quality ball users, but we already have some deficient ball users with T.Mac and Grimes, and to a lesser extent Lumumba. Salem comes into the side, and maybe even Newton who looks like a great kick. I wouldn't be surprised if Bail was in the team come round 1, but I'm hoping that some better ball users can supplant him.

Bloody we'll hope so, I reckon he could be a gun, reminds me of a young Trengove, hard working type.

Well based on form thus far, there is now way in the world that Grimes, Jamar or Bail should be anywhere near the team in Round 1

We cant afford to carry these horribly unskilled liabilities when the real stuff begins

Newton and Vandenberg absolute certainties to play vs Gold Coast.you'd think.

Would be a big statement to leave Grimes out for round 1, one which I would fully encourage. Surely he can't take his spot for granted anymore especially since he's no longer captain.

Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the game so can't really comment to much but I think we all agree we will be a better team when some of our young players with 'potential' (hate that word) go past these guys.

With Jamar however, not sure who comes in for him as from the readings here Gawn wasn't much better and I have seen enough of Spencer.

I think kicking out of the backline is more important than ever in modern footy, if Grimes is constantly missing easy targets it's a real concern, especially when our bloke is out and a simple kick is missed.

Presuming Howe but no Vince

FB: Dunn Frost Jetta

HB: Salem McDonald Howe

C: Newton Jones Lumumba

HF: Kent Hogan vandenBerg

FF: Garlett Dawes Gawn

Foll: Jamar Cross Tyson

Int: Viney Toumpas Garland

S: JKH

Emer: Pedersen, Bail, Watts, Grimes, Michie

Pedersen or Watts in round 1 for Dawes. Want to see Gawn sure up his spot as well otherwise might bring both of those in for Gawn and Dawes.

I'm very keen to see Stretch and Brayshaw. Wouldn't mind another look at Michie Toumpas and Newton as well as Riley. Really have to see more of these outside/depth midfield types.

Can't be bothered writing a 22, but for mine Frost and Newton went from question marks to certainties.

On GRRM's 22, I suspect Grimes will play, on the field, in place of JKH. I'm not the fan I used to be, but I just don't get the impression Roos is in a rush to leave him out.

I'd have Pedersen in place of Gawn - think we need one of our rucks to be mobile. Gawn and Jamar together is one dinosaur too many IMO.

Michie and Toumpas competing to fill in for Bernie.

Watts, if fit, for Vandenberg. Loved AV's game tonight, but I want Watts to be given every chance. Not convinced that our coaches will ditch one of their clear favourites for a newbie from the NEAFL.

There, I wrote a 22 without writing a 22.

Watts has been given every chance for the best part of a decade. If he doesn't show it in the remaining NAB challenge or Casey preseason games then he can do it the hard way through the VFL. Doesn't have to be a PR disaster just say he's building fitness. A spot will open and he'll be better for it! Do want to see AV from the start of a game though. Freo seemed to bring more pressure in the first half.

More than happy to have Pedersen in for Gawn as well. But I think Gawn offers more than Pedersen in mobility in the ruck, he gives us a bit of zip around the groun. Definitely like the idea of Pedersen being a much more reliable forward option both in attack and when defending, but I didn't see it tonight, he wasn't taking grabs and was plodding as much as Gawn or Jamar were as forwards.

At some stage if Pedersen isn't clearly better for the team than Jamar or Gawn then I'd rather have the strong ruck game and develop Gawn at VFL level. Pedersen was great last year but if he doesn't change the outcomes of games then give me Gawn developing so he can take the first ruck spot, he needs AFL minutes against AFL ruckman.

on tonight's form the vice captain would be in trouble

Worst game in recent memory, had a nightmare.

You need class all over the field but it's vital in the backline. Grimes' clangers have cost us so many goals over the years I've lost count. The opposition must love when he gets the ball because it goes straight back to them.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
