Can anyone explain what happened to Todd Banfield (Bris/Richmond) - he started his career on red-headed fire then went absolutely nowhere.

Also Brett Goodes had a pretty swift fall from grace after being nearly their best player early in 2013.

Thats interesting actually, won the Norm Goss Medal in the VFL grand final, now delisted. Would have a look!

The more highly rated delistees are yet to hit the books.

So far we have 0 list spots.

And picks 2, 3, 40, 53, PSD 2.

Unless we get to 4 delistings we wont use it.

So far I can only see 3 delistings - Blease, Strauss, Tapscott

Some of the rookies will probably be delisted as well as the 3 above

Georgiou, King and Harmes on shaky ground!

In answer to GRRM don't we only have 36 players on our primary list at the moment 9including Clark and Frawley)?

This is a good pick to have. This year, at least. It's still a loaded weapon to have up our sleeve.

I'm very pleased the club held its nerve on not trading picks 2 or 3 in the ND when it became clear we weren't going to land a Dangerfield/Kennedy/Shiel etc.

5 left; Clark, Frawley, Byrnes, Clisby, Nicholson. 5 came: Stretch, Jetta, Lumumba, Garlett, Frost.

Any player we delist from here on will then free up a draft spot. There are 3 obvious names and 3 obvious picks - 2, 3, 40. After that there are guys who could be paid out. Whether we would rather use pick 53 or PSD 2 obviously depends who is available at each spot. I could Jason Taylor and the rest of our recruiting team pushing to use a draft pick at 53 than wait for the PSD.

Mitch Robinson. Football wise we could do a lot worse. DH wise not so much. He would be in our starting 22

Don't scream but if JT is out for the season then we delist him and rookie him. He gets his money without pressure of a list spot. No one will take him before our last rookie pick as his salary would prohibit it. If someone wanted to give him a longer and better contract that would be great for JT and we would oblige.

I think Evans could also be delisted and rookied on the same basis as JT.

That then covers all draft and PSD picks and if we take a DFA we adjust our use of picks accordingly.

or leave jetta on rookie list with a pay rise and a promise to go on list 2016, with guaranteed rookie upgrade 2015 for trenner's LTI

much less fuss that way

I don't believe we'll be messing about at the bottom of the list to gain a minimal advantage and annoy the whole list.

Jetta will be upgraded, bet the rent. Jack T will go LTL - pushing him to the rookie list would be rightly seen as callous.

There would have to be some mighty good rookies out there for us to write off our investment in Georgiou, Harmes and King, unless someone has a reasoned case for calling them list-clogging spuds. Add a new rookie and let them all vie for the available promotion.

I recall writing something similar a couple of days ago, but sometimes the obvious takes time.

Is Mitch Brown OOC? Lyons from the Crows?

I want us to explore this. There is value in the Frost deal if we use 40 AND 53 AND PSD2

In fact, we would be winners if we can get 4 players - 1 or 2 in the best 22 - for ND23.

well if we do all that then there was no point in gaining pick 53

unless you are saying to cut a contracted player(s) and pay him out

we are just exploring the options

Delisted free agents can just be signed instantly so if we have our eye on someone it has to be someone who can't work out a contract but the club doesn't want to delist them or a player from another comp. My guess is Ahmed Saad or Jarryd Lyons. Either would be a good pick up but I would be pretty happy with Lyons.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
