Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm sorry but if I was an MFC player and Jack Grimes was telling me what to do, I'd have real trouble taking him seriously. Imagine him motivating Bernie Vince and Daniel Cross. Cringe-worthy.

Why exactly is that ? He is captain of the club and well respected. Because he has poor execution skills you wouldn't take him seriously ? Way to go on promoting good culture. "Do as I say not as I do " - not relevant ?

Jack was the captain at an informal training session, doing the job expected. No doubt the players there would also do the job expected. Had they been there, Bernie and Daniel would surely have done the same - take their training seriously. One of the many reasons you're not an MFC player, I guess.

We share a birthday !

1957? And are you also charming, good looking and a great judge of whisky?

Edit: Just checked your profile, 1958, shame, I only befriend people born in premiership years.

I have a few friends born in 1964. So they are about 50.

Due to the passing of time I may have to relax the rules to include the "missed by that much, years" so you qualify. Sad when we have to drop our standards.

One of the many, I'd say.

It obviously grates on me that the bloke giving orders shouldn't even be best 22. I have no doubt Bernie and Daniel were doing exactly what they were told though.

Well, he's one of the worst decision makers and the poorest executers, yeah. Though, the "do as I say, not as I do" does hold water and relevance.

On this, has the 2015 leadership group been chosen yet?

I saw a bunch of them around 10.30 this morning at the bottom of Anderson St hill as I rode by, and they were looking as though they were about to embark on some Tan action. Interestingly, in light of the delisting news, I thought I saw Tappy there among them.

Tapscott definitely training with the group. Gawn & Terlich seemed to be in the remedial class. Not many older players however Jamar, Spencer, Howe all notably present.

Def not Garlett and I don't think I saw Frost - not sure that I'd recognise him but I don't think he was there. Just remembered that Jetta & McKenzie were also there from the older group.

Just an aside - had dinner tonight with friends who know Sam Frost very well. He was very homesick and disliked living out west and he is absolutely thrilled that he was picked up by Melbourne and cant wait to play under Paul Roos. Is trying to convince his mates to buy Melbourne memberships as they all bought GWS memberships when he was there.

I didnt think that the older players were supposed to come back for another couple of weeks. Good sign that there seems to be a lot of the boys getting in early. This was the talk at the B&F that they were coming back early

If we can just have some good luck with injuries away we go.

Now you're talking! Quicksilver's live Happy Trails album was one of my favourites,

Now there's a blast from the past, excellent. I'm somewhat more partial to Shady Grove, with the irreplaceable, idiosyncratic Nicky Hopkins on piano - as a young wannabe keyboard player at the time, was stunned when I first heard that.

The boys were on track on that one (cough cough).

If anyone attends the training session next week and films it for you tube, they're at least a little bit wiser as to the musical background.

One thing that interests me is the physical shape of the players when they return which is always an indication of how seriously they've been working in the off period and always a good pointer to their attitude going forward. Stef Martin was a good example one year when he looked much bigger and stronger and really turned it on one year till injured. They also did it at Essendon a couple of years ago and won about nine in a row to start the season. I could never figure out how they did that.

. What's to remember, we won. You are the first person I am aware of that was born the same day as me. No doubt you are highly intelligent, witty and irresitable to the opposite sex. And most importantly a Melbourne supporter. Welcome to dl.

Yes. Correct on all counts. Though I seem to be irresistible to both genders and I am too fond of single malt whiskey ( the Macallan)

Which is your preferred one? Gender and whiskey??

It was mentioned on channel 7 news that some of the players were training today & that Jake Batchelor was among the group. Can anyone shed any light on this? I don't believe he has been delisted by Richmond.

Re signed with Tiges...maybe the token player making it look like a bunch of mates training.

The irony about this training thread is that it hasn't regressed into a slanging match about the merits of various players.

Sure, there's been a bit of banter about music and Jack Grimes leadership, but how often do training threads get hijacked and the real content lost in the mire?

I guess because it's a non-training thread it's immune from the usual degeneration.

PS: When training officially starts, let's all try to ensure training threads remain on topic and don't regress into criticisms of players, past and present coaches, past and present recruiters and, especially, Demonland posters.

You're right, let's stay on topic:

1. Who is "training the house down".

2. Who is fumbling during skills work, or falling behind in time trials, and should immediately be delisted, castrated, drawn and quartered.

3. If Ben Hur is wearing lycra, how good/bad he looks.

4. Every word that Saty has said to, towards or near a MFC player.

5. Urination: who, how many, which tree, kneeling on right or left leg.

Y'know, all the important stuff.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
