WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRENDAN McCARTNEY

Neeld was sacked in June 2014 (this isn't a post to bash Neeld). You'd be right to describe the dees as a basket case.

By October 2015, Melbourne would have to rank in the top half of the league in regards to stability.

It's quite some achievement by PJ, first on board, and Roosy.

There's a real plan and the adults are in charge.

I seriously rate landing Macca as something of a coup. he would have been feted by quite a few discerning clubs. He came to us

People are starting to come to us

as we know.......'If we build it....." ^_^

From zero to h_h to lol in 15 minutes!

That is a new record for Demonland.

Well done to Scythe, but also to h_h for his general obliviousness and impatience.

LOL

The news got announced literally 2 minutes after i made that post

all hail Kurt!

I think it's good that Goodwin himself suggested McCartney would be a good mentor for him when Roos leaves.

Our biggest downfall in the last ten years is player development , and this guy is the best in the business.

HH, i thought that "We have been lied to" was tongue in cheek. No?

Don't give him a way out ET! ;-) After all, part of H_H's charm is that he does tend to wear his heart on his sleeve.

That's a hard one, preferably someone not recycled. Somebody that could be moulded into a Roos proto type. I think it would be hard for anyone who has coached for 16 years to change his philosophies and follow Roos's strict game plan. The Bulldogs, Geelong and Essendon don't play anything like Melbourne.

"I don't know and I am not qualified to give my opinion"

Ignore list grows by one.

of course it was tongue in cheek, it was only 10 30 am and they had all day to announce it

Anyways pretty stoked about this announcement. the MFC has been deplorable with player development for too long and surely that will now be rectified with the Roos-Goodwin-McCartney trio (and their support team)

What's this?
Hiring coaches with actual experience and a proven track record at developing kids? All this tosh about recruiting players like Herry L who actually have a track record was pushing it but bringing in a bloke who wasn't the runner for the Woorinen seconds as a development coach is just too much for this Demon fan.
I want more unproven battlers, speculative draft projects and patently underqualified administrators at my club. If they go away, I won't get to come on Demonland and whinge about how we keep picking the wrong type over and over again. It's the vicious circle I just can't get enough of!

I see McCartney coached Ocean Grove to four successive premierships in 1994-95-96-97.

We'll be fine with that record....

Hey, wait a minute???? Haven't I seen that soenmwhere before????

Maybe Ocean Grove must have very compliant players that aren't Gen XYZ etc..

c'mon, he's entitled to his opinion

maybe so...but laughing when someone fails at our club...you gotta wonder why support the club in the first place...

Well, I wish him luck. He may be OK and become a valuable member of our anticipated improvement or just become another ner do well who's has not distinguished himself at our club in the past decade. I really don't put much weight on his unfortunate departure from the Bulldogs. These things happen all too often in football to the wrong people. In reality he is just like a draft pick. Who the fark knows how well they will go? At least this guy has determination to remain in the game and has something to prove.

Grubbers{yes thats their nickname}have more money for players than most afl clubs.

Not that difficult to coach a flag there.

I can tell you now this source is quoted from Brendan McCartney himself.

He is going to the Dees on Monday. He wrote his own contract. He is VERY happy and sounds like he may even be our next senior coach in waiting. His role won't be much next year.

He rejected Essendon senior gig because of the scandal.

He built a bonfire with all his doggies stuff, had a party and burnt it cos he was treated like crap there.

Probably the only scoop I'll ever have so passing it on to fellow Demonlanders :)

Good work Kurt, thank you for sharing.

Very happy with this appointment.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
