The Jon "Ralphy" Ralph respect Thread

Many of us here despise the journos, there are the usual few that people despise more than others.

However, I continually notice one journo popping up showing support of our club - usually going against the grain, and that is Jon "Ralphy" Ralph of the HUN.

I have listened to him on SEN radio and notice a few of his odd tweets, and considering we are always quick to attack their articles I figured I should pay some form of respect to a journalist that continually supports us.

So thank you (if you are one of the few that read Demonland).

With regards to other journos I also have a great deal of respect for Emma Quayle of The Age.

Anyway that's my two cents,

Cheers.

Ha.

No Ralphy can lick my BB also.

Hmmm. I think you could come up with something better than that BBO! Or haven't you opened the bottle yet?

PS: For what it's worth, Emma Quayle is a very nice reporter (if there is such a thing?)

Agreed Demoneyes. Certainly provided a much more balanced view than others in recent times. Also agree in relation to Quayle.

Also tweeted that we "deserve some luck" after the pick 3 compo, which sent many on bigfooty into meltdown.

He does seem to be more in our corner of late, which is odd given he's a Tigers fan and they generally can't stand us.

We don't have many allies in the media, so I for one welcome Ralphy's new found affection.

Big fan of Ralphy. Tweeted subtle disgust about MC wanting out not long ago and now acknowledges we 'deserve a bit of luck', unlike the majority of the footy world saying we don't deserve 'welfare' from the AFL in terms of pick 3.

So, if I'm reading you right, you believe John Ralph and Emma Quayle are worth one cent each. Is that right?

think everyone is being a little harsh on him. recently there's definitely been a focus from him supporting equalisation measures, and especially the demons, when nearly every other journo has added fuel to the fire of the Frawley's not worth pick 3 debate.

plus he seems to be in the Dees corner. can't say that about many journos...

Got no problem with Ralphy.

I am though a big fane of Terry Wallace. his insights on trade radio are very good to listen too. Very honest and doesn't sugar coat things.

His list assessment on teams this year on trade radio have absolutely spot on. Listen to the one about Geelong and he is on the mark.

I'm not a journo hater like so many footy fans seem to be. Fans lose their minds over journos opinions when they're just that. As long as they put forward a balanced view, then it creates good discussion.

However are people basing their positive opinions on him because he supports us at times, not his journalistic work/record? Seems hypocritical.

Don't mind Ralphy, comes across as one of the good guys.

i still can't get past the irony of him labelling himself as the 'list manager' after what he did to Richmond's list when he was coach...

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
