Grand Final Sprint - Last chance for glory in 2014

Featured Replies

Schoolboy sprint star Jayden Hunt spent the last half of 2014 off the track with a back injury but he's been selected to represent the club in Saturday's main event, the grand final sprint - our last chance for 2014 glory.

The full field:-

2014 Grand Final Sprint participants

Adelaide Brodie Smith

Brisbane Lions Daniel McStay

Carlton Kane Lucas

Collingwood Ben Kennedy

Essendon Patrick Ambrose

Fremantle Zac Dawson

Geelong Jordan Murdoch

Gold Coast Jarred Ellis

GWS Adam Tomlinson

Hawthorn Billy Hartung

Melbourne Jayden Hunt

North Melbourne Luke McDonald

Port Adelaide Andrew Moore

Richmond Bachar Houli

St Kilda Clint Jones

Sydney Swans Daniel Robinson

West Coast Will Schofield

Western Bulldogs Jason Tutt

The heats are on at 12.30pm and the final during the half time break.

Zac Dawson and Clint Jones???

LOL

My money is not on Dawson or Houli.

Might as well throw in Brock McLean and Jack Trengove.

Thought Sammy Blease might be our sprint representative. Hunt must be fast.

I think the main selection criterion is which VFL/WAFL/SANFL player is least hungover by this time in September.

Look at the line up of past winners:-

2002 Jared Crouch (Sydney Swans)

2003 James Walker (Fremantle)

2004 James Walker (Fremantle)

2005 Brett Deledio (Richmond)

2006 Brendan Fevola (Carlton)

2007 Jake King (Richmond)

2008 Matt White (Richmond)

2009 Rhys Stanley (St Kilda)

2010 Luke Miles (St Kilda)

2011 Patrick Dangerfield (Adelaide)

2012 Patrick Dangerfield (Adelaide)

2013 Patrick Dangerfield (Adelaide)

Guys a big win here could propel us into next years finals. Don't underestimate the grand final sprint. It's the race that stops a nation.

Jordan Murdoch from Geelong can seriously run. Look out for him.

Blease would need a rest break at the 50m mark.

He would win a 25m sprint though

The GF sprint would be the furthest he has run for years.

hed need to be a Dee to our representative ?

Why do people think Dawson is slow? He's not quick of mind but the guy is a decent stopping full back for a reason. He's not slow.

I think it's just the fact that 'Zac Dawson' and 'lol' in the same sentence seems to make a lot of sense.

Swab Ambrose if he finishes top 3?

I'm sure they ran this year as a handicapped race, so Fev had a head start

the should make it more interesting and have the players have to bounce a footy as they go and kick a goal from 40 out to finish. Miss the goal or drop the footy your out

To maintain it's relevance the kick should be a drop kick.

i'd prefer a daisycutter stab kick. must knock over a 100kg dummy from 30 metres :)
