Not to mention we'll either have picks 2 and 3 or we'll trade for A graders. How is our list going to worse again?

Dee's should hang onto Picks 2 & 3 and trade Pick 23 for a player.

If Saints take McCartin. Petracca & Brayshaw look the goods... I would like the MFC to develop our own Mids.

I would be trying too land Walker from the Crows with Pick 23 & a player.

I said this in another thread and I'll say it here

Even if we don't pick up an A grader (which everyone is hoping for) I dont' think it has been a bad trade period for the Dees

We've replaced what we've lost, picked up some speed and hoepfully we can net some talent with our picks and also FAs

Delisted FAs still available (Please correct if wrong)

Mitch Robinson

Jarrod Lyons

Both could be picked up as Delisted FAs

Plus you add 2 top mids in this years draft - and hopefully Frost in the preseason draft and the list development - there should be improvement in 2015

Trust Roos and Co ppl - no shortcuts needed ppl

That's about it for me too. We will start next year with a significantly weaker squad than we had this year, and nothing has been done about the midfield (barring a late miracle).

Not to mention we'll either have picks 2 and 3 or we'll trade for A graders. How is our list going to worse again?

The comparison should be against the teams around us, rather than comparing it 2014. The players we have added fill needs and will make the squad better.... BUT they aren't going to propel us up the ladder.

Personally I can't see us passing many teams. We'll be around the same mark as St Kilda, Western Bulldogs, Carlton. There may be another team which drops off significantly but can't see that happening. Unless multiple young players significantly improve we're a lock for the bottom 4 again next year.

Even Carlton are getting stuff done now:

- Jaksch, Whiley and pick 19 to Carlton in exchange for pick 7 to GWS. (Confirmed)

There are two planes. One is going from New York to London at 700km an hour and the other is going from London to New York at 600km an hour. When the planes meet which one is closer to London?

If they smash into each other in midair, then one can argue that the correct answer is neither ... (and if they don't smash, then ... )

well they both are, but i'd argue that the one heading to London and not New York is closer, because it's heading in the right direction at a faster speed and you don't have to factor in the 180 degree turn.

The one at the lower altitude.

That killed about 10 minutes. The are both the same distance from London. Is Kennedy here yet?

As much as well all want to land a star. If we get Frost via PSD (or even without this) the offseason is clearly a success and I am amazed anyone could say otherwise.

- We landed massive overs for pick 3 with Frawley

- Stretch cost us below the value of an U18AA kid whose skill set of speed and two way running fits our exact need.

- we have picked up a talented mature half back with speed and carry for a player we never expected to play again.

- we have picked up a quality crumber with speed and carry for a pick we were likely not going to use.

- we have picks 2 and 3 for the best kids in the land and the addition of a kid to our side in Hogan who would be the number 1 pick if in the pool.

I expect we will pull at least one player to bolster our midfield stocks (hoping its Lyons). All this puts us in a much better list management position than end of year.

Pick 3 & 40 too Crows for Pick 10, Taylor Walker & Pick 31.

Pick 10 & 31 too GWS for Pick 7, 40 & Frost.

Dee's get Pick 7 (Lever possibly) Walker, Frost? All for Pick 3.

Keep Draft Picks 2 & 23... And pre season pick which we could have used on Frost.

Planes 'meeting in the air' is called a crash.

They are as close to London as the time it takes to find remains and take to Heathrow.

A few days I guess.

There were no survivors.

I am in a great mood...

I agree mate

But i guess we expect rival clubs want to give these players away when the reality is we'd have to pay massive overs to get an A or B grader who doesn't want to leave...

I don't think people realise rival clubs don't want to give up developed quality players so easily

The Tyson trade was really a one off, and I am sure GWS might not have done it if they had their time again (not saying Kelly won't be a player) but they gave up a fair bit for him

I listened very closely to the Josh Mahoney interview where he was asked whether the Kennedy trade was legit. His answer was brisk and quick where he replied 'we will not be trading picks 2 and 3'.

2 AND 3 was all that stuck with me. It's the second language of the AFL, the ability to say something with saying it. If he wanted to squash the rumour he could've said we won't be trading 2 or 3... He didn't.

If our trade goes through, it'll be for one of them and an extra pick. I think it's just about trying to find the extra pick now.

I hope they stick to this like a welded joint.

give up one of them, trade out for a second pick we can give to the swans.

OR trade a promise of a 2015 pick in the top 15 picks!

This way Swans get P-2, OR P-3; & a top 15 pick in next years national draft! for this hypothetical trade.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
