The All-Australian defender played in attack for much of the year to help cover the absence of Mitch Clark and Jesse Hogan. Frawley played some fine matches in his unfamiliar role and took the most Melbourne marks for the season.

Had a better year as a key forward than Dawes did, which says something as at times his efforts left a lot to be desired.

He's equally valuable to us as an experienced and talented player in our backline who as proved this year can swing forward, and in securing draft pick 3.

At least, that's what we hope it will be if he goes - it's probably overs, but a pick at the end of round 1 (pick 20 or thereabouts) would seem to be unders.

If he goes, we will miss him, but it might help contribute to our midfield rebuild, which as we all know is desperately needed.

Seemed to be "off with the fairies" during parts of the season.

Almost like his mind was on other things!

Cya chip hope it's as good as u think it will be

I thought he was better than most people gave him credit for this year, and he was probably our best performed forward overall, but clearly the experiment lasted at least a month too long. He should have been played down back for the second half of the season, particularly against top 8 sides when we weren't scoring anyway.

I certainly don't blame him for wanting to seek opportunities elsewhere because we are still a long way off playing finals. Pick 3 would be fair compensation, but anyone thinking we are going to replace an All Australian defender (who can also pinch hit up forward) overnight is kidding themselves.

Chip's form has regressed enormously since his AA year, and for parts of this season he seemed to be just 'going through the motions' (an interesting thought given that he's reportedly heading down the Geelong road). I'd probably give him a pass mark (5/10) for 2014, but with the right attitude I reckon he could have been 8/10. A terrible example for a 'leader' to set for a young and developing list. Two or three years ago I would have been gutted by his likely departure, but right now I'd I'll be quite happy to see the back of him, while he still has some currency!

Should have traded him last season.

He didn't want to be here.

Pick 3 Roos will use well.

Cya Chip. Geelong dynasty is over for mine.

won't be winning flags with Cats, they're finished.....rather pick 3 than chip!!

Chris Scott on Chip via abc radio - we want him at Geelong for "a number of reasons", primarily rate him as a player and for his flexibility.

So he can put his ankles behind his ears.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
