Mitch Clisby, Dan Nicholson delisted

Are we going to let anyone go who actually played seniors this year?

Getting rid of some guys in the twos is great, but I don't believe they are fully responsible for this shemozzle, any thoughts?

The players we recruit will probably replace the duds in the ones, who will next year be in the twos before the cycle repeats itself.

Over the next three years we need to replace the whole listed team with actual AFL standard players. It'll take time...

Will you three stop talking so much [censored] sense!

Its the dead wood in the ones I want gone.

So you suggest we get rid of the 7-10 who can't even get a game and then what 5 or so more in the senior side who aren't up to it. Nice in theory but there aren't 15 decent players to replace them with. I'd rather start with the truly dead wood and work our way up.

That said I'm all for trading out some of those underperformers in the senior team if they have value because it means you can find a decent replacement for them.

Thanks to both for donning the red and blue. Although both would have seen the end looming, it would still be a tough pill to swallow. I reckon Clisby in particular would be doing it hard. This time last year he would have thought he had an AFL career ahead of him, now it's all over just as quickly as it started. Tough business, the AFL.

Spot on Frosty. These blokes were fringe players at best. The Jack Watts, James Frawleys, Jack Grimes' and Mark Jamars' of this world have been near automatic selections for nigh on 4 years now. Who is holding them accountable?

Generally I'm not one to write "thank you" notes for departing delisted players (well I haven't been too fond of it over the past few years anyway) although this time is different.

So thank you fellas for your hard work and dedication, I always admired how how Nicholson attacked the pre-season - particularly in his running. As for Clisby he seemed to have had his head screwed on well and also trained his guts out to initially earn his spot. It's a shame it didn't work out and that neither ever got to that AFL standard. All the best and I wish you both well for your future endeavors.

I'm disappointed for Clisby - I thought he was a decent player, and at least worthy of a run in the seniors at some stage this year. Nicholson had plenty of chances and wasn't quite up to it. Having said that, he is still well behind Tapscott, Strauss and Evans as the first players I would delist.

Jamar will continue until he either chooses to retire or we get a ruckman who outperforms him consistently and is capable of staying on the park.

cool we can watch clisby go to another club and thrive.. astounded he wasn't given a go off half back this year instead of bloody Terlich.. Maybe his VFL form wasn't great but at least give him a shot at AFL.. he was so clean with ball last year when played...

A lot of dee posters don't seem to agree with me on terlich.

But he has a gift not many on our list has.

He gets his hands on the aggot, continually.

I find the timing of the decision more interesting than the decision itself. It would seem to me to make for a better B&F night if the squad remained intact until then. Do Nicho and Clisby go along? Can't blame them if they don't want to yet I feel they should be there.

It's possible they asked to be told as soon as possible to allow them to get on with their lives, I guess.

Anyway, I wish them well and thank them for their service. It's not their fault if they aren't quite good enough to stay on the list.

I thought nicho could have made an ok tagger..

Wpuld have delisted a few before these guys but paul roos knows best.

He can't kick & if you can't kick a footy well then you are a liability. We have too many players that are crap kicks - Mckenzie etc. We will never be any good until we purge ourselves of players who can't kick, it's football after all can't understand y u would recruit players who can't kick.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
