There has been a lot of talk about the compensation pick we could get if Chip leaves.

What about compensation for the crap year he has given us?

If he ultimately leaves it would be fair to assume he had either committed to a club during the season or at least been discussing going to them. No doubt as we have seen with Patton, the last thing he and the club would want is for him to get a bad injury this year. In fact any deal would probably have been null and void in the case of a bad injury with us.

IMO Chip has had his worst year with us and has not put in 100% for fear of an injury. If this is true, we have been paying a player with his heart and mind elsewhere.

Not only Chip, but other players would see his lack of effort and care and it has to rub off affecting our performance. What have we got as a result? A bloke playing below his best and affecting the team performance.

This comes about because of the AFL FA rule recently brought in, which seems to be making the strong stronger and the weak weaker, the opposite of one of its major purposes.

I think we should seek compensation for this situation, in whatever form is fair. We know the GWS number 9 gave this club nothing in his 2nd year with us, as he had signed with GWS. Chip IMO has done the same.

The AFL has caused this and should compensate us for it, the pick for his leaving is for the future loss, not the past.

As Barrett said, we should get tough and fight.

Good luck in your endeavours

I know we would get nothing, but it is just another example how we have been dealt a pretty rough hand.

Not a chance. They won't pay us any attention and how on earth do you prove that?

We'll be getting an after first pick compensation, which is more than what he is worth in my opinion.

its our own fault for playing him in the seniors.

And if we didn't we would be telling the world he was not worth a decent pick and possibly going over on the salary cap and we would be paying a player a senior salary for playing at Casey. How would the members and football world see that?

Read my post again, it is not about what we get for losing him, but for what he and the AFL have done to us this year.

I know as I said we would get nothing but this is about the way we have been treated overall.

I read it fine the first time and as I said, if we requested some sort of compensation for his performance they wouldn't pay us any attention.

The AFL have created a monster that devours clubs like us and they can't stop it now.

Our compo pick should Chip leave will be an after first round pick selection (so pick 3 if we have pick 2 in the draft). This will also be our form of a priority pick, even though they should be completely separate. However, i won't be complaining re: PP if we do do at after 1st round CP for Chip, as he is worth nowhere near pick 4.

It simply means that clubs won't let FAs get to a final year of a contract. If they won't extend they get traded . Simple.

Its our club, Not the players. Some of these golden boys forget that.

Free agency doesn't effect top 4 and bottom 4

Problem solved

Maybe a case but our usage of him has been as disingenuous as his performances have been

I wonder if privately Roos is furious with him.

We shouldn't have kept playing him

him.

The bigger question is with ll the space we should have in the salary cap whose ears have we been into all year? I will be disappointed if we don't land a big fish (or several medium fish) in the off season with the space we should have available.

If Chip leaves, the compo is based upon his age, contract length and contract amount. His current form is not part of the equation. The AFL will not take his form into consideration, but of course, the club he goes to will, and this may affect contact length and amount.

The faster Chip ****s off, the stronger our culture will be. Got no time for him and it's incredulous that Roos didn't drop him weeks ago. He's mentally checked out and has been for months.

You can't have someone in the leadership group who isn't committed to the club. It sends an appalling message to everyone in the team about our culture.

How much is a prime potato paddock worth? Enough to tempt a spud farmer?
