Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Roos' Post game press conference

Recommended Posts

A very poignant admission that he did not speak to the players after the match because "the players have heard enough negatives and I had nothing positive to say". He looked to be in control of himself but absolutely seething underneath. He now knows that too many of the players can't kick, mark and handpass and after almost a year of his leadership a lot of them have not improved at all. I just cannot see what can be done.

He has never been to a Casey Game. I have seen other AFL coaches (e.g. Buckley, McCartney, Thompson) at their reserves games. Apparently relies on down the ground video.

My take from the presser is that its not the coaching but the execution of the game plan. Oh and the skills. Isn't the improvement of skills the coaches (not just Roos) role?

He did say to the effect that the players can perform the skills at training. Can't do it in a game.

As my mum would say "if u don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all".

I understand what you are saying but I also think that there are moments that can be seized to advantage. Along the lines of 'if there was a turning point it was when the coach brought us in after the GWS loss and spoke to us about...' There's a movie right there unless it ends in '..retiring'.

IMO the players have heard it all before and seems to be going in one ear and out the other.

Roos is trying something different and what ever he wants to say he can say it in the review tomorrow.

Its not going to make any difference IMO.

Roos should have spoken(yelled) at playing group after game, Let them know exactly what is acceptable and what is not.

Not speaking to the group was a sign of weakness from the coach,

Do you think Nathan Jones needs talking to? Do you think Matt Jones deserves talking to? One will be here next year. The other won't. It's as simple as that.

Yes he did and I do not buy it for one minute. Training is often conducted under match condition simulations. If they are able to deliver on the track and not on the day then the simulations do not go hard enough which is a coaching responsibility. I am a firm believer that you play like you train. Have not yet been to training but think this week could be a good time to go now that I am a man of leisure.

Do MFC use that One Team stuff. Don't know what its called but the players speak openly and honestly to each other, not about the last game but the season performance or training performance? It would seem that it might be a good idea. I agree with who ever said it that the players would have heard it all before, as recently as after the Brisbane game where the match review went for two days. Few home truths would not hurt.

Haha players and agents must look to us as a money pit - 3 year contracts handed out to whoevers walking past, Matt Jones, Jodie McKenzie, Jamar, Pederson (although admittedly he's been ok this year)

but at training they are only playing against their own insipid weak players so is not much of a test. They have shown their mettle time and time again over the past few years. Something is seriously wrong if we can take good coaches and ruin them, take top draft picks and ruin them.

What can Roos do? Dawes cannot take a mark or hit a target: Viney continually ducks his head, predictably turns on his left side and cannot hit a target with a handball; Garland continually butchers the ball to give a few examples of the efforts of individuals who we want to lead us forward. We all know who won't be there next year but at the moment it is the so called good players who are letting us down. The list turnover cannot all be done in 1 year it will take 2-3 seasons to clear out the deadwood

But by season 3 half the new list will have turned into dead wood and on it goes, such is the melbourne way

I agree but what use is it if Roos just pisses off after 2016 and we have to start over anyway?

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
