Footscray v Casey Scorpions (Jesse Hogan returns)

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

Those expecting Hogan to debut next week, can forget it. He is clearly rusty, not match fit and has had 4 possies at the 17 min of the last quarter. According to the Casey radio guy, he has been soundly beaten by his opponent, Fletcher Roberts, whoever he is.

Better for a run though. Knows where he is now and can get to work.

Not true at all. Match fitness would be a worry but the rest of that statement is rubbish. Casey radio bloke has no idea

Well what is the true position then? Has he played well according to you? Do you expect him to play next week for the Dees, on the back of today?

I am interested to hear what you saw today.

Would be very very surprised if he played senior footy this year, match fitness is the only reason for that though. Delivery was horrible today. Kicked over his head with the wind a few times, was double teamed in a few contests and went third man up for the spoil on 3 occasions. Had about 4 good one on ones and won 3 of those so to say his opponent had the better of him is incorrect. Wouldn't have played half the game I'd say and half of that was when we had the wind against us so the ball didn't enter our forward half.

Thanks. Well at least he didn't get injured and got a bit of match practice.

Pretty much how I saw it too. Had a run, and no injuries. He's very vocal on and off the ground which is a good quality and hates losing contests. Had a ball kicked over his head and his opponent marked it, he swore very loudly but turned straight away and smothered the ball to our advantage which was good to see

Sorry Biff, but I couldn't find him, there were dozens of people, men and women, looking like that.

Just back from the game. An interesting experience. Went to see Hogan of course but the doggies kicked with the wind so Hoges only caught a chill in the first quarter. In fact as well as a wind advantage you also got the slope advantage - the ground falls as much as Lords Cricket Ground it seems. At times, every player was inside the fifty at that end.

Hogan showed his skills in the second quarter. He took a contested mark, led and marked and used his strength to win a contested ball. He kicked a goal and was generally in the play.In the third quarter he spent about 12 minutes on the bench but might as well of stayed on it as Casey only had one inside 50.

He was a bit frustrated in the final quarter as the ball was bombed to him and gave him little chance under those conditions. The second quarter showed his class but he is still short of being AFL ready IMO. In any event I could see no purpose in taking a risk this season.

Pedo played a bloody top game. Battled against big Cordy and busted his gut around the ground. Jordie McKenzie snapped a magnificent goal (believe it or not). Blease took the field on a couple of times and though he got caught Casey missed his pace when he stayed off after half time. JKH did a bit and Toump popped up a couple times but they were not stand outs.

We were generally outclassed and deja vu there were some shocking turnovers.

Pies were good but as I took the Merc, I kept off the grog. Will remedy that now, while watching the dees.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
