Who's had the better year?

I think they've both been outstanding recruits for the club and have provided exactly what we needed going into 2014 and beyond.

Interesting that one of the two players have been tagged in various games which has impacted on their output. This has usually resulted in the other having a very good game.

Theyve both been awesome and if we can add another midfielder as good as them (ie Dylan Shiel or Adam Treloar) we may push for the 8 in 2015

Jack Viney has also had an exceptional year. Probably goes a bit unotice because of his inside grunt work.

After a lot of thought, reflection, consultation with others, and numerous video reviews, I've come to the conclusion that Bernie Vince has had the better year - by about 0.4 goals

Tyson, basing on his age, experience, etc, he's just going to get better. Vince has been incredible for us also, and hoping that he can stay with us for a while yet.

Yep, clearly Vince is better but maybe we're being a bit harsh seeing Vince has much more experience. Give it time and Tyson might be able to catch up.

Both have been very good, but Vince with his experience and aerodynamic hairdo just takes the prize (I'll bet Adelaide are kicking themselves for letting him go)!

However it's Tyson we will all be following and cheering for the next decade.

Vince at his Adelaide best was a game changing A grader. We haven't seen that on display, but he's been very solid and I agree that he's better now than his last season or two at Adelaide. He's such a massive upgrade on Sylvia though; the price we paid was peanuts in relation to our needs.

You could argue he had that type of game against the Kangaroos, minus the game changing part, but I agree with the rest.

I think it's just great that we can discuss the great year two new recruits have had as opposed to the opposite of previous years. Both have been excellent for the club.

Both of them have polled 10 or more votes in 8 out of 17 games played, but clearly Dom's very good games have been of a higher standard than Bernie's.

I think it's Dom and I don't think it's that close tbh, but that's not a slight on Bernie. Dom has had an exceptional year for a player of his age.

Nash - Bernie has never been an A grader imo. A B grader with x factor would be my description. He's been more consistent for us this year than he has the past couple of seasons at Adelaide.

If we could repeat the success we've had with Vince and Dom again this recruiting season, we'd be extremely well placed come 2015.

could not agree more re how important these guys have been and will be for us. I said to a mate way back during the tiges nab cup game that Tyson seemed to have the ability to stand in a tackle and still get the ball going forward, something we have lacked for years. Vince is great at it also. They both have the knack of moving the pill forward, something Jones is OK at but not as good

I thought Vince was a good signing at the time, however I expected him to be "like for like" for Sylvia in terms of consistency. I was wrong. He has been a great signing and has more or less been contributing every week. Getting him for pick 23 (or as a straight swap for Sylvia, if you want to look at it that way) was a bargain.

Vince has been good most weeks and been serviceable when not. Tyson has mainly been in our best three players or had no impact at all which is expected of one so young who has had tags on occasion. Tyson has had the bigger impact for mine.

Tyson's best has been better but Vince has been more consistent. Eh, who cares, we have both of em, enjoy!

I think based on their respective careers to date and the reputation they carried in to the season Vince would have been expected to have a significantly better year than Tyson. On that basis I would say that Tyson has performed better in relations to expectations than Vince, although both have been very very good for us. If you're looking for absolutes then it becomes much harder to separate them. You'd probably have to do a rundown of everything they've done all season to get a real idea.

Something like THIS in fact, which shows Vince to be just ahead although it is remarkably close.

Alrighty, so, they both have 17 games, they both have 23.18 disposals a game, they both have 0.65 goals per game.

Vince has more kicks and tackles, slightly more rebound 50s.

Tyson has more marks, slightly more clearances, and better goal accuracy.

Then things get messy -

Vince has fewer clangers but Tyson has better overall disposal efficiency.

Tyson has more goal assists despite Vince having more inside 50s.

It's a shambles. Their stats don't spread in any consistent pattern, many of them are very close even where there is a difference, and some of them seem to contradict eachother.

In summary, that stats give us all permission to go with our observations and gut feel, and be happy that both are good players, though they also share the same key weakness of relatively poor disposal efficiency.

Tyson's hair does certainly seem to be that of a more dynamic player.

Isn't it obvious? One player is clearly better.

vince should be 4th though on that list, he has been comfortably better than Viney

Viney has been voted top 3 on the ground 4 times. Vince has been voted top 3 just the once (when he was BOG against North).

Vince has been consistent, but he hasn't had as many standout performances as Tyson or Viney, and that is reflected in the votes.

All that said, I'd have no issue with him finishing top 5 in the BnF.

Possibly my two favourite players. Can't separate them.

Both have been fantastic.

Tyson the better for mine, has played better than I thought he would but without looking at any stats, I'm of the opinion Tyson gets more hard balls and think he would have laid more tackles.

Brilliant recruiting last year with the targeting of this pair.

The way Tyson is going this year reminds of Josh Kennedys first year at the swans.

Stats are pretty similar.
