Reading the player review I am confused, maybe I don't understand footy anymore.

JKH got 30 possessions, yet pad no attention to his direct opponent (Davies for most of the day who was probably 2nd BOG), gets congratulated for playing his role, Evans gets bagged for being by himself at stoppages, Michie got "out pointed" probably because JKH's opponent was running through as well and Blease struggled with ball use. - Everyone struggled with ball use - it was a shocker of a day, lucky to kick 30 mtrs into the wind.

If these players have their bags stamped, I wish the club would stop criticising them to justify who they should play.

I've seen a fair few Casey games this year and struggle at times with the reviews.

Do you know what role they are being asked to play? What deficiencies they are being asked to work on?

I dare say that this is where you'd be most likely to find the answer.

Yep, Allison's reviews have been way too negative all season and I'm sure the players would prefer he kept such honesty to behind closed doors.

He also should have not bothered with reviews for the past two weeks because when you get flogged, what are you going to be able to say that is remotely encouraging.

As to JKH I'm delighted he got a good mention, but after last week's words about Dom Barry's superb 8 disposal game, you can see it's just justification for senior selection.

What that unfortunately means is that Allison won't be putting up Bleasey for inclusion this week, just JKH and Tapscott.

I don't know about being too brutal, everyone on demonland complained in the past because the reviews were all positive and about the great things players did. Clearly a balance is required, but i don't think Allison skips out on positive feed back. This week doesn't necessarily depict that, but they got flogged, Allisons not going to come out and tell everyone the boys were great and he was happy with the development… because they got belted! Of course they're gonna get crapola reviews.

As for the reviews he gives, i think he gives enough negative feedback for players to work on but not to the extent that its 'rough', its honest and direct 'this is how i thought you played, in order to improve, here are the areas that need more effort'.

Don't get me wrong, I think JKH is a great young talent and hopefully has a great future for us.

But the comments on other players about his opponent had the better of him, he knows the defensive style we play, his opponent got ahead of him a couple of times had me convinced that these team rules applied to everyone.

Apparently not.

As I say above, if they are gone then they are gone, the club should stop the negatives just for the sake of it.

Negatives can be said on just about every player in the comp.

... exactly. It explains why Barry earned promotion. He executed the run-with, shut-down game asked of him.

Odd premise though ... what are you suggesting, that Roos and co. want to promote the least-likely candidates?

The key to understanding what's going on is in the JKH review: play your role, do what you've been asked. That's all that it's about - it has little to do with number of disposals, as Sam Blease has been finding out.

You're making any number of assumptions there.

Get mr bean in and drop Frawley. Develop Georgiou with the last half of the season.

JKH for Salem (give the kid a rest)

Tappy for Terlich who is injured I think.

Blease for M Jones

Toumpas for Bail

Can we do any worse than today???

Toumpas for Bail?? On what?? a "Stellar" 14 possession game?? paleeeeaase!!

Im writing an email to the club tomorrow about Brett Allisons player reviews

There is no way it is constructive to constantly say negative things about the players on the club website or anywhere else public

Give them home truths behind closed doors by all means, but not on the MFC website for the whole world to read

I mean if there are players that have their bags packed at the club then no matter what they do or how we'll they play at Casey they aren't going to get a crack. That's fine,

I do however have a problem with rules for one and different rules for others. Reading Allison's review there was no mention of JKH's defensive (or lack of) efforts. He was continually sitting 30 meters off opponent who was picking up kicks at will. Michie, Strauss, Blease, Evans and co would have been slammed in Allison's review if it was them.

Please tell me your joking.

These reviews are fantastic. Do you honestly think they are not getting told this things on a regular basis behind closed doors? This is nothing new.

I think this is a great report that gives genuine insight into the progression of players at VFL level where most of us dont get to see them play. We all sit here saying why isnt X, Y or Z in the team bla bla bla well finally there is some transparency and supporters are informed what areas these players need to work on.

And really... if the players cant handle the heat from this report, they really dont belong in an AFL environment.

I spoke to two players who did ask me to swear anonymity, but they said it was difficult to be criticised so publicly from VFL level.

Was also told Roos hasn't attended a single VFL game this year.

I enjoy getting the updated on how the players are progressing, but the overly negative reviews week in and week out are disturbing for one of two reasons.

Either they're completely accurate, in which case we have a worryingly terrible lack of depth.

Or, they're being a little too negative and aren't playing up some of the positives that are coming out of the games, in which case I'd like to see some more positivity coming through from Allison.

I find it very hard to believe that we are getting nothing weekly from these players, sometimes literally nothing, but then again who knows. But I think it's folly to suggest the players don't notice or aren't affected by public negative reviews from your own coach. Roos doesn't sit there after matches and say things like 'Terlich had a role today, and he just didn't execute it', even though we all know it. He might say it behind closed doors but publicly he stands by the list, and I would like Allison to be doing that a bit more.

They may be at the VFL level right now, but like it or not some of these players are going to be our future and we need to stand by them (where possible) rather than taking public pot shots.

In terms of selection, if the rumour is true that JKH isn't in the squad, I'm not sure what is going on at the moment. Had a good game for Casey (at least a much improved game from his previous weeks), we're lacking a crumbing forward (amongst other things of course), we have about 8 players we could drop this week, and to be fair to him he never really should have been dropped. He should play this week.

Surely he must be sacked, immediately, then.

Saw some of the team at the airport today, borderline players I noticed Kent, Barry, Nicholson, McKenzie, Salem.

They should not be at an AFL club if they find that too much for them

It's one thing to cop public criticism externally like you do at AFL level but to publicise internal criticism for players who aren't yet playing the highest level is a joke.

I Can only hope one day I come across your boss documenting your failures as an employee.

I Doubt the players give one hoot when the likes of Robbo, Connolly etc drop their 2c on player worth, but when your own coaches publicly question your worth there's something wrong.

I'm glad I don't look at life like you Don.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
