GAME DAY - Round 15

Featured Replies

Got the free tickets ready to go. The only reason to go to Etihad. Just need to put up with the wife's shopping first!

Does anyone know if the free tickets are still available? Thinking about bringing the family to the game.

Dees by 24

Dawes to kick 5

Viney to have 30 touches

Howe best on ground

Also the more I watch Dom Tyson the more he reminds me of luke hodge

Really curious to see how Dom Barry is used in his debut game.

Has been a tagger at vfl for last several weeks. Who will he match up on for Footscray? Liberatore is almost impossible to negate as he's that inside player - I'd like to see Nate Jones go head-to-head with him, though I suspect Picken may be given the job there.

Dom Barry a chance to run with Macrae, perhaps, as a player who's around the same age as him?

You can watch the women's game online here.

Some seriously good skills on show and they actually turn around instantly to face the forward line after taking a mark. Something that the men's team don't do.

Actually, on a day like today, probably a good thing it's being played at Docklands (for the supporters at least).

Maybe as a defensive forward. Could be the sub also.

A must win today.

No excuses.

Yup

Will be a massive fail if we lose this one considering their outs

Lose today and we may struggle to win again this season.

That would be very disappointing.

Win and confidence can grow.

Please win at that shiitbox venue.. :)

Our outs are not exactly unimportant either...McDonald, Cross, Jordie...also a first gamer coming in as well as a player with speed but lacking in skills when it comes to delivery by foot. We should win, but I would equally not be surprised if we lost...it is a game that could go either way.

Our outs dont compare to Ryan Griffen on his own, they also lost Grant and Roughead two important structural players

They also have a debutante, maybe even 2 come to think of it

Simply no excuses today

I disagree as they have a team that is probably better balanced than ours at this stage. Anyway, time will tell.

@melbournefc: Dom Barry is our sub today. Nathan Hrovat for the Dogs #afldogsdees

Jason Tutt out for the Dogs. He has been replaced by Fletcher Roberts.

Hopefully the woman's match is an omen, it worked last year! The boys win I say we get the girls singing it with them in the rooms!

Interesting Salem stays in the starting 21. Big test for him to play well as a starter which he's only done once.

Barry will hopefully add some spark late as the sub, although it's defensive work that's got him in the team.

Not feeling too positive about today but I'll guess we will find out.

I was watching the women's game and was very impressed. The women's game is a very watchable one. Good skills and high quality footy.

I don't think you can categorically say we should win this. It will come down to who takes their chances - last time the Dogs did exactly that and beat us. It certainly looks a fairly even contest on paper.

BTW who the hell is Fletcher Roberts?

Georgiou is out there, he played for Casey yesterday though. Who is out?

Tall Defender forward who did a Pre Season with us. We were actually going to pick him up in the rookie draft the same pick we used on Jai Sheehan. But the Doggies beat us to him.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
