There's nothing new under the sun (or the nighttime sky or the Etihad roof). Another lucky come from behind win to the Cats (who IMO are on the decline), another narrow loss to the Bombers who will probably keep their finals hopes alive for another week because Hawthorn will be tough for the Suns in Tassie.

The fact that Essendon is staying in touch with the eight also means that Essendon will keep pushing its problematic strategy of using the courtroom to battle ASADA and leaving the players in limbo land as far as the outcome of the drugs saga is concerned. The lawyers and the media are loving this.

And although it was a close tussle out there, I didn't find it a particularly inspiring spectacle.

I think Zaharakis has taken the next step as a footballer, i'd nearly consider him elite now.

Mitch Duncan is also a fair footballer, abit like Nathan Jones he seems like he would bleed for his side, doesn't wanna be the hero just wants to be part of it all

We should make a serious move to pick Zaharakis up out of the bomb site rubble: he will surely be deeply disillusioned by the whole saga and could welcome a fresh start. (Not sure of his contract status.)

When Matt Burgan was with the AFL and doing those magnificent phantom drafts, I remember he suggested Zaharakis as a possible draft pick in his bottom age year. I think we went for Kyle Cheney instead.

Now, I wouldn't go near an Essendon player with a 10 foot pole unless he came with a certificate from ASADA clearing him of any possible connection with its anti-doping investigation. Nothing less than complete immunity would do.

This is despite the fact that it's been said in Zaharakis' case that he didn't take part in the injection process because he doesn't like needles. You can ingest peptides in other ways and nothing personal against Essendon players, but I don't want the club to be in the Western Bulldogs' position with Stewart Crameri where they have a massive case of egg on the face and Peter Gordon is inexplicably critical of the ASADA investigation.

Wild weather in Launceston. Suns doing pretty well, so far, with old fashioned wet weather footy. Ablett bloody amazing, again.

But OMG - the goal review in Q1 - goal ump called it touched but the blue maggot decided to call a review. NO bloody goal line camera, and from the first one second of the review it was clear that it could never be overruled.....WTH did they take two minutes???

It is ruining our game. If they don't want to get it right, then abandon it.

Great finish last night loved it.

Yes the Geelong dynasty is over but they will continue to fight hard. May even come out the other side.

And how good to see the drug cheats running out of juice again.

loved how essendon got beaten again.

Hawthorn just coast along. I wonder if all these GC losses affect Abletts brownlow. although he is probably that far in front.

We have dropped to 16th. We must win to climb back up.

At the Eagles v Dockers game, Sylvia kicked his first goal as a Docker. I actually quite dislike seeing him in that jumper and playing for another team, strange to feel like that I suppose, considering how frustrating we (or I) found him to be.

It could be a record low score by us next week against Freo, they look exceptional at present. Just squeezing the life out of Eagles and we are a long way off the Eagles.

Sylvia playing a blinder again

Shows how far off it we were when a player who got 5th in our B & F last year is struggling to get on the park at Freo and when he does get a game can't get a full game.

Brisbane playing well against North. They should be further in front.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    TRAINING: Thursday 9th January 2025

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
