Racked up a team high 15.3km v Adelaide, just crazy numbers for a predominant forward. That's why he's been getting the chocolates and has 40 for the season.

21 in the last 7 games and 16 goals against better sides recently in Coll (6), Port (3), Geel (4) & Adel (3).

McDonald is an enigma.

He's always had this ability for the ball to follow him.  I used to tear my hair out when he constantly found a way to get the ball in defence, because the last thing you wanted was to see the ball in his hands coming out of the backline, but it's a great trait in the forward-line.

The best gumby in the league.

He is done!  will always let you down in key games with his perenenial "Brain Fades" We will never win finals or matches that count with him in Key Defensive positions.

Trade out please!

Omac will make plenty on here look just as silly as this soon enough. In fact in my opinion its already started.

I for one 100% agree. As i have said a few times I think he is ahead of where his brother was at the same stage. Certainly a better kick. Not as quick i guess. But more reliable.

Maybe not my finest thread.

But in 2014 I thought we should cash him out when he had value as his athleticism, kicking and decision making was never going to work down back.

In 2015 I thought he should've been switched to a permanent forward role. It happened in 2017/ 2018.

In 2017 I was a bit upset after he had a poor game where Melbourne threw away our finals chances. I wasn't the only one talking crap on that night.

He's had a great year. If he can start sticking some tackles and get his radar on his set shots back he'll go to another level again.

Not sure you have to bring in omcd. Tommy mcd was a very good defender with excellent competitive ability. Now switched to key forward.

Omcd still under development.

Quite relevant i reckon.

I could have picked any number of quotes but grabbed these two (which happened to be concurrent) from back in 2015, when TMac was 22, from Praha and Mooshadow, respectively:

'He's only 22 but has 70+ games experience. That's interesting because young players tend to hit their strides around the 50-70 game mark, once they have a feel for the speed and hardness of the game'

'TMac is having a few poor games after numerous blinders earlier in the season. Big guys take more than 70 games to reach their peak, and as others have said he's only 22'

Both quotes have proven to be correct and TMac is now a monster. Omac is only 22 and has 55 games. Big future and again as i have said a number of times will be a 200 plus game player for us..

David Neitz like..

Id he had played all 22 games this year, we would be talking about a potential Coleman Medalist.

A better mark than neita. There was period where neita couldn't catch a cold.

T Mac reads the ball extremely well, did the same down back, his field kicking and decision making was his biggest downfall.  He still struggles kicking to a moving target, more he can't seem to get the distance right, either short or to far.  Kicking at goals you don't need to worry about  this just kick it to get through the goals.

He was the turnover king that has turned himself into a top 10 forward in the competition.

His contested marking is superb

I reckon he is THE consistently best contested mark I have seen at MFC, Ox included.

Amazing strength and ball flight reading.

I agree. I am waiting for him to kick 8-9 goals in a game.

Hopefully later this year....

Mods...Can we at least change the name of this thread?

Boooo

Where is your sense of fun. We've all made shocking calls, wrong calls and good calls.  Hell, I thought John Ahern was going to be a star!

It's also a good reminder to keep things in perspective.

PS:  Wasn't having a go at you @DeeSpencer.

Yep as a defender TMac didn’t look great, the transformation has been quite staggering!!

Best time to do it, any of the September weeks would be a blast.

But serious work still to be done yet

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best.
