Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not sure if JHK is due for a rest too, or who might replace him.

Doesn't seem like Blease is bashing down the door, maybe Riley or McKenzie?

Maybe JKH instead of Salem.

Not sure if Roos would drop both for a rest.

Also, too many talls. we are top heavy atm. May consider dropping Gawn for team balance.

We need an injectionn of speed, a line breaker. maybe worth giving blease a shot.

JKH was certainly a spectacular failure as the sub, but I'm sure giving Salem full games instead of him would be player management. JKH has played a lot more football this year and he's still very young, so seeing him tired at this stage of the season isn't surprising.

Definitely think McKenzie and Kent have earned a call up now. We need midfielders that are scoring goals because our forward line just is not working. Kent in, Salem sub, JKH back to Casey for a rest. 6 day break also a factor, so keeping the team intact without changes would be unwise this week.

Out : Salem, Matt Jones

In : Blease (we need some line breaking run), McKenzie for M Jones (turns ball over too often & needs to get it more often).

Also - no way JKH should be dropped. He had a bad quarter & and needs an arm around him and pump up & start next week - dropping him would be what Neeld would do so Roos will do opposite. Also, we need to expose Dons lack of leg speed.

Swapping Frawley and Howe would also be considered. And starting McKenzie and subbing JKH or even using Cross at half forward as a defensive forward. Going small may help us have more run but there's just not much that can be done about the lack of outside run and skill and versatility of the forwards to play midfield. Starting Kent and JKH might help with this.

That people are calling for Blease shows the lack of run and creativity. I think for that reason JKH keeps his spot and plays higher up. He set us alight in the Adelaide game. Since he's been used as a sub a couple of times and was ok against Port. Whilst he was average today he still made space a few times. I think he stays in way ahead of Salem who really struggled on the big stage and who's fitness seems a big issue.

I know he hasn't been playing particularly well and he doesn't find much of the footy but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Dom Barry was a shock selection.

Would definitely surprise me. Roos doesn't just 'gift' games.

Barry has barely shown anything

I think Salem's lack of preseason will really begin to be a factor in the coming rounds. He seems to have fantastic games with a big impact, then others with almost none at all. Not a criticism because he's still learning the ropes, but he needs to be managed very carefully here.

The only reason I would drop JKH is form. He's not going because of a dropped mark, but if he's becoming too fatigued to play full games and isn't having the desired effect as the sub either, I don't know if keeping him in the team is a great idea.

He's been one of few (with McKenzie and Nicho) who are doing the job defensively at Casey. Nicho wouldn't surprise me either, although his continued turnovers might cost him a game.

If Barry got a game it would be reward for doing a role over reward for pure form.

Nicho's run could have helped us today. His kicking isn't that much worse than a few others getting a game every week.

I think Kent for Salem is the most logical change. A like for a like. But if Gawn goes it's either pick someone from Casey in to the side or JKH in to the team and pick a sub. Nicho would make a much more dangerous sub with his endurance and speed than someone like McKenzie. He's soft, dumb and poor skilled, probably my least favourite player, but his physical gifts would boost the team. Could be a sub only play like how Richmond used Matty White. Allows the young guys to play full games at Casey.

5 possession 1 quarter games for Salem and JKH are a waste I think.

With only 3 wins under the belt we need to try out Riley and Mitchie with some games this season. We need to see what they can do before next trading/drafting season. Our list is unbalanced with to many mid type players. We have no developing young KPP's at Casey. I would give JKH and Salem a rest and bring in Kent and Riley against Essendon.

Has anyone worked out why Riley was dropped yet? He'd make a great sub, ramping up tackling pressure in the 4th with fresh legs.

No idea. My best guess is I think they looked at the match up against Port more than anything and thought with Port having a few youngsters in they could start Salem and JKH, then it came down to who was the better sub, Riley or Toumpas. I think Roos likes the sub to inject attacking run more than anything as the game opens up. That means speedy and finding the ball on the outside. Riley could be effective but would be a different type of sub than what we have gone for.

"A few of our young guys you could tell are just starting to wear out a bit, so you address those sorts of things at selection."

"I did notice today, the young players...even some of the mid range players still haven't played a lot of AFL footy... are more mentally tired and just dropping off in little areas."

- Roos in the presser.

Probably means Salem will be back to Casey to work on his form, maybe JKH too if he isn't giving Roos the desired "spark" as a sub.

I just don't think Salem is keeping up with the pace of the game that well and really struggled today and has been just hanging on for some time now. I've held the view all year that Kent is clearly in our best 22 and should be in the side, and from all reports was BOG for Casey on the weekend. The single change seems logical and timely.

JKH played his worst game for the club to date but Roos has demonstrated that backing the player is his preferred method, so I suspect he'll get the opportunity to redeem himself.

And lol at the guy who suggested Matt Jones might be dropped. There always seems to be one.

Matt Jones out? Surely you're kidding...

If we are to expose their lack of leg speed, Jones is the first player you want to be getting it to. Our hardest runner and burns opponents frequently - he is going from strength to strength at the moment and dropping him would be 'doing a Neeld'*.

Kent to come in for a tall, probably Gawn (as much as I love him).

*'Doing a Neeld' - an action which is spontaneous, often unexplained and always stupid.

I just think we a are too top heavy with talls. Salem and jkh I think both look tied and over awed. Both could could benifit from gaining form and confidence at Casey. Kent been going too well to be overlooked. I'd like to see more of Michie and Riley. Could argue though against bringing both in at the same time.

Roos doesn't like making many changes, so you'd expect 2 max.

IN: Kent

OUT: Gawn

JKH full game, Salem sub. We were too tall and slow today, Gawn is getting there but can't have him, Jamar, and Pedo all in the same team.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
