MFC and Casey Scorpions are both saying the game is on Sunday

Half way through the season.....regardless of form and ability, what I find absolutely amazing especially when compared with previous years is the number of MFC listed players who are available:

Sam Blease, Alex Georgiou, James Strauss, Daniel Nicholson, Dom Barry, Jordie McKenzie, Aidan Riley, Dean Kent, Luke Tapscott, James Harmes, Jimmy Toumpas, Jack Fitzpatrick, Viv Michie, Michel Evans

Within that group we have backs, runners, mids and maybe a ruck/forward in Fitzpatrick. And all but one have played senior footy.

Last year players were getting a seniors run simply because there was no-one else.

This year we can replace those injuries which will occur with like types. And players who don't deserve a call up don't have to be.

Unbelievable what Roos and his team have achieved in half a year.......

Agreed, George! There's some real talent in that Casey team, with heaps of up-side! Exciting times!

Now, let's get REALLY excited, with a big win over the old foe on Monday! (Would be nice, as an Entrée, for Casey to Roll the Magpie seconds the day before...!!)

As long as the MFC-listed players do the non-negotiables - defensive transition and reasonable ball use - and don't fade out in the second half again. A few of them have careers on the line over the next few weeks.

Just a pity this game isn't played on Monday, at the MCG prior to the main event, like in the old days, with the Reserves playing before the Seniors.

Good post. I feel that dave mission and his team were very unfairly critisized early this season. It seems there was a decision made not to rush players for round one, but to manage them for the maximum amount of games possible. The injury list was never overly large, however it was the players on it which caused angst. Credit to the fitness guys, comparing our injury list to that of say hawthorn or collingwood shows how well off we are to have these guys at the club now.

Hogan is out but notice that we do not have any developing young KPP's at Casey. This reflects our quest to unearth a money ball mid. No doubt this will be rectified in due course.

Scorpions lead by a point late in first quarter in greasy conditions.

Jordie McKenzie, Jimmy Toumpas and Aidan Riley are all playing at Casey Fields.

Also missing from the selected side is former Demon Troy Davis. Matt Rennie who has an early goal is making his senior debut for the Scorps along with Jackson McDonald.

sounds like all three emergencies (Toumpas, Riley and McKenzie) are playing.... surely we would keep one fresh in case of late injury/illness?

Kent scores his second late in the term to give Casey a 5 point half time lead. Casey Scorpions 4.3.27 to Collingwood 3.4.22.

Goals Kent 2 Barry Rennie

With Riley having not played for two weeks (bye and travelled to Alice) he probably needed the certainty of a game at Casey. Not sure why one of Toumpas or McKenzie haven't been held back.

Maybe one of the above to be pulled out at half time, or play reduced game time?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
