Gary Ablett out of the race?

He's a star and I love watching him play, I just didn't like him complaining to the umpires on the weekend.

Nothing wrong with that. He was getting clarification on what he had to do etc.. even in country footy I have gone up to the umpires at qtr time to get an idea of how certain free kick (which some just shouldn't even happen) are paid when you know you have done the right thing. Always good to sometimes get an explanation from the umpy.

I thought he was doing during the game, not in a break but I could be wrong.

I think it'd be hilarious if he got rubbed out, but I haven't seen the footage yet. I couldn't care less about him winning another one though. He gets a terrific go from the umpires. A genius, but about time he got the wrong end of the umpire's stick.

Bit harsh on him there Adam, the man gets continuous free kicks as teams have to push the rules to the absolute limits to curb his influence.

I only watched the game on the tube vs the Doggies and there players were continually lining him not even looking at the pill with Picken hanging on to him, was very ordinary to watch but I can totally understand why they have to as you said, the man is a genius

Really so Ablett looks around and says I am going to elbow this fella in the head

I must be wrong then or my television set clearly doesn't show his intent. I would argue if it was me I was trying to get up and being held back down so I swung my arm back to initiate contact to his chest to break free.

Of course you wont see it on your television set

You need to have one of them new fangled intentonet thingo's

McLaughlin should just keep his mouth shut

Said he would love Gary ablett to still be "eligible" for the brownlow.......but would "understand" if the mrp thopught otherwise

FFS

He is the boss, so he probably shouldn't keep his mouth shut.

If this was someone like a Rohan Bail or lower rated player they'd get pinged for it.

I've had it with this MRP.. They are an absolute joke. How does Dawes slap someone in the face in play and get 2 weeks down to 1 and then ablett throws an elbow at someone behind play and get off scot free... Along with lecreas bump a few weeks ago getting one week, it's a disgrace and the AFL has got to do something about it.

you do understand the mrp is supposed to act independent of the executive and without influence

and he's not the boss.....yet

I know that but that doesn't mean he can't talk about it, and I'd much rather think he's the boss then Demetriou at the moment

My problem is that they get some right ( in the Ablett case) and some so horribly wrong ( in the Dawes and initially in the Viney case).

I certainly believe the higher the profile of the club/player the more the MRP look for an "out".

Most would agree.

He's one of the biggest whingers in the game. Nick Riewoldt's another star who does it. Great players, but don't touch 'em.

What was the fuss about? Saw the footage tonight and it was obviously to the chest. You could see Pickens head and the elbow was well below that and the force was low. Total media beat up of a nothing incident.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
