  1. Nathan Jones is likely to be in our next team of the century. He stood by MELBOURNE during the worst years when he could have easily left for more money. Paul Roos, who is a better judge than I, rated his leadership and rates the winning goal he kicked to seal a final as one of his greatest moments he has seen watching football. Bernie Vince won our b&f, the following year he was moved to the backline and was never the same. Benie Vince was more dynamic and had more tricks than Jones. Jones can’t play anywhere to AFL standard other than in the guts much like Dom Tyson.
  2. As part of a fresh 2020 campaign (following a solid, injury-free preseason, smart recruitment, delistings, and devising an ACTUAL gameplan), we need a new captain. One, not two. And preferably not Viney. I like him, but he's been off the boil for a long time, and Jones won't/shouldn't be around much longer. We need leadership. We need goals kicked when they count, tackles that can't be broken, and vision. We need somebody to lead the group, and show the rest that there is a standard and it won't be compromised. Who do give the role to? I think Maxxy would be great, but I also worry that
  3. Date: Thursday 20th July Time: 9.45am Location: Goschs Paddock Tests for Viney, Watts, Salem and Tyson... and Jonesy only 1-2 weeks away, possibly joining in the full session. Most important training session of the season, for sure. Hopefully we have some eyes on the ground with updates and that all those 'tests' can get through and face Port.
  4. Interesting selections. I'm surprised to see Garland still in there, but it shows how much he does behind the scenes I suppose. Massive rap for Gawn to be in there, he has taken huge strides this year (figuratively).
  5. I rated our list last year and we’ve certainly improved since then. In fact I’m quite bullish now about our squad and have been since I saw vandenBerg play our first practice game against Freo, which confirmed that Jason Taylor has an awareness of what breed of footballer can be successful in today’s generation. The fact that we’ll win seven games this year (and possibly eight) indicates we have improved and our quest for a few stars may finally be taking shape. It’s not a sugar-coated rating like our club coaching comments, but hopefully I’m not coming across as a “nuff-nuff, kick the ball”

  7. Anyone see Abletts hit? http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-05-25/brownlow-blow-for-gaz I'm hoping he gets pinged for it, and I think he should If he does it just brings more chance for Jonesy
  8. I know the seasons not over yet, but so far 1. How would you rate his season out of ten 2. Would he be in your top 5 for players?
  9. I have a feeling Toumpas will follow in Chad Wingards footsteps and win the B&F, but then i have a feeling Trengove will star and then N. Jones (for obvious reasons).
  10. In hindsight (as it is such a wonderful thing), who did we miss the most today? ps I know Clark isn't one of the options. It would have made the question pointless.

Clark is a much better player under Neeld. His output (if it continues) and his influence on games will surpass previous years (by alot) under different coaches. Many ridiculed his value and he is living up to his pay packet. The guy has class. Morton has been a revelation IMO. his skill level is up. He is out playing other more seasoned midfielders and his attack on the ball and player is up to par. I'm not saying he puts fear into the opposition physically, but he is performing admirably in a midfield that is not feeding him and playing to his strengths. Jones is performing as an inside midf
