WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ANGUS BRAYSHAW

Do yourselves a favour and check out the MFC branded highlights for Brayshaw on the club website.

Those highlights definitely showcase his speed more than the other highlights. I'm starting to believe the 2.81sec now.

Whilst I had question marks on him, I more than sold now - the kid has got something special about him.

That smother was epic! Imagine him doing something like that in front of the members. Tackles with intent too. Going to be a fan favourite pretty quickly I reckon.

The bloke he smothered the kick of was nearly comatose on the ground afterward. Looked like his leg snapped in two.

A little trivia... Neale-Bullen and Brayshaw share a Birthday, just 5 days after Petracca. Could be a big week come January!

and the same day as my wife and godfather, 1 day after Elvis, 3 days after my sister, 6 days after my auntie and 4 days before my brother in law.

more trivia and it will be a big week the reason why Irish families often drink so much it's always someones birthday

And would you believe it's 3 days since he was drafted and he was drafted at no. 3!!!

I'm Irish and I kinda like the shite that's been piled on me over this post... but seriously guys, surely it's about a 1 in 366 chance that your Birthday will fall on the same day as somebody else's... but what are the odds that your Birthday will fall on the same day as another person who gets drafted on the same day to the same AFL club? Come on probability buffs... what are the odds?

Ignoring overage players, If each team on average takes 4 players then 72 players are drafted then it's 71/365.25 that 2 people with the same birthday will get drafted. then it's a further 3/71 that that player will be drafted to the same team.

so that makes it 216/25932.75 which is 0.83% chance that 2 players with the same birthday will drafted to the same team each year

Sorry, mog. All wrong. The chance that a set of 72 people all have unique birthdays is very low indeed.

Actually the odds are not that great check out the birthday paradox, it goes something like a class of 25-30 kids at school will usually result in at least two kids having the same birthday. Given most of the draft participants fall into roughly the same age group there should have been quite a few who shared the same birth date.

lol?

Yeah, rethinking. Ignoring leap years, the chance that another person has a different birthday from you is 364/365. The chance that two are different is 364/365 squared, the chance that one of them is the same as you is 1- (364/365 squared). Still pretty low, but when you raise it to the 71st power the chance of at least one person sharing a birthday with you is quite high.

Ok, yeah when i was looking at it afterwards it seemed wrong, looking at the birthday paradox it's over 99.9% chance that a player will share a birthday.

I was only calculating the likely hood of each individual draftee having a teammate drafted with the same birthday, not the whole group .

If each team drafted 4 players, each player would have 3 teammates drafted with 1/365 of having the same birthday as them, so each player has 3/365(0.8%) Chance of having a team mate with the same birthday. With 72 players or 71 pairs of player combinations, with a 3/365 chance of having a team mate drafted with same birthday, making 213/365 or 58% chance of a team drafting team mates having the same birthday each year.

But i'm probably completely wrong

Statistically if you randomly get 20 people together 2 of them will have the same birthday (but not the same birth year) a very large proportion of the time. Have forgotten the percentage that it holds true but is very high.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
