Georgiou will be unlucky to get a week for that. Lowest of impact and it was meant to chop Franklins arm so it was accidental. Might get points with a reprimand. Franklin should be reprimanded for throwing himself on the ground like a spoilt brat - over acting and crying like a baby.

They showed roos at 3/4 time talking to Howe and Watts on game day this morning. Obviously they didnt follow Roos's instructions on what they were meant to do and team instructions. Because after roosy left them he was just shaking his head as if to say my god what is wrong with you.

Interesting to hear on radio today they were talking about Watts and some other players and they said watts is such a good runner and has the motor but just doesnt do enough in games. Said he should be shown footage of himself near contests where he doesnt work hard to get there quick enough and contest.

...and they reckon he hasn't been shown that footage. I'm sure the FD are all across it.

I read Howe's face as more 'what is he talking about?'.

A lack of understanding, which is indicative of where we've come from and where we're at.

I can't understand why Watts finds it so hard to run and run and run and tackle and tackle and tackle.

If he can find this we have a keeper.

I have never hung it in watts and I'm not about to start now but I am struggling to understand why he lacks the motivation to do it.

U can teach a player skill to a certain degree but all watts is missing is the run and tackle (aggression) which is something that should be easy to rectify but strangely seems hard for him.

I want him to find it, I just hope he wants to as well.

Watching Port play tonight really reminds me how far we have to go as a team. The attack they put on the ball was ferocious. Every single player on that field threw themselves at every contest and every ball. Nobody jogged around waiting for the ball to come to them; everyone in that team works their ass off to make a contest to their teammates advantage.

We will never get anywhere with passengers like Watts jogging around aimlessly.

I was happy with our defensive efforts, but how many throws did sydney get away with? how many incorrect disposals, chopping arms in marking contests. it was pretty ridiculous. I noticed it most when we started to get a run on. frustrating.
Pedersen was pretty good. couldn't cop,plain at all.

Dunne was fantastic, his disposal efficiency must have been fantastic, ill have to have a look.

plenty of good efforts, just gotta get it forward more.

improving every week.

if we keep on this trend, we will put a good game together for richmond.

riley coming in soon will be a big boost, he is an animal, garland will be fantastic for the defence.

salem looks like he will develop in to a good player, prob be the sub the next couple of weeks.

Kent is as hard as nails, should be able to provide us with another fwd option.

Yet to see Clisby and toump really push for a permanent position, but i have faith.

I just hope that chat with Howe and Watts is backed up during the week. Don't care if they are dropped, I want our impressive leaders to tell them that there is no sympathetic ear for those that don't listen to what their coach tells them.

Paul Roos is your coach - get angry and embarrassed, not indignant - you were doing the wrong thing.

Roos is teaching them to play both ways!

He stated in his presser it may take 2-3 preseasons to get the fitness & culture right to play both ways.

Watts shows no aggression, hunger, tackling ability.

All non negotiable and needs time at Casey around 4 weeks... Make him earn his spot! If not trade him!

I disagree with dropping watts, doing so is just being petty to punish him for our loss. He can turn it on and thats what we need him to do. Again I suggest sit the whole team down and go over the match tapes and have each player suggest what they could have done better in each situation. Jack needs to focus on what he is not doing instead of what he is doing. He stops to appeal for free kicks a lot more these days instead of playing on and on until the whistle. He needs specific training to cover his deficiencies or needs, more tackling more being tackled, more chasing. dont worry about kicking the ball and that sort of stuff.

One problem I see with our team is that when the opposition have the ball our players start to look for their man, even if that means running away from the opposition player with the ball. They need to have greater awareness of when to go at the player with the ball even if it means leaving their man. Need to talk more we had a few players run down because no one was talking to them or protecting their back.

Terlich while he does have a few clangers the thing that annoys me about his game is he is so slow to move the ball on. He holds on to it until force to play on loosing all momentum and failing to honor down field players who have offered leads.

Howe like jack special training, no marking practice (though he could use some kicking practice) have him practice crumbing for a change and trying to lock the ball in.

Jamar needs to work with his midfield so that we get more benefit of any taps that he wins, this is something that will only happen with more experience and them all working together. I think bring in Gawn for next week and play Jamar out of the square and Dawes chf and Frawley on the half forward flank or possibly wing so that he can feed dawes and not clash with him, it would mean we might get some more run out of him and he may find himself not so closely tagged as he would as a forward. we unfortunately deliver the ball to our forwards too often close to the boundary and when the opposition players punch it away it either goes over the boundary or to one of their crumbers, we need to keep the ball in the corridor so that our forwards and crumbers can come into the game more often and have more second efforts out of them.

Jack Viney had a lot of clangers which while disappointing is a result of him burrowing in and just trying to get the ball forward and free of the congestion, problem is the opposition players often are well in front of our players and take it away.

While the loss is extremely disappointing there is improvement and given the number of issues we still have with personnel, effort and skills there is a lot of room for improvement, so I think we are actually seeing some real progress.

Lastly I would love to see Aiden in the team next week, he is an adelaide boy so probably knows how these guys play better than most which would give him an advantage in playing against them over others we could play. While he has not set the world on fire with Casey his performances have been good enough to take a punt with for next weeks game and that little extra hardness around the ground would certainly not go astray and you can be sure he would be keen a mustard to make Adelaide pay for getting rid of him.

Often you find that players who spend alot of their time in the last line of defence have a distorted DE Deez due to a decent amount of disposals being lateral handballs/foot passes under pressure (or maybe not under pressure) and outlet kicks from the kick in to pockets etc.

That said, you are correct in thinking it must have been fab. Dunn topped the DE rating for the team with 92.3% in yesterday's match. Not a PB for him though. That was against the Eagles in Rnd 2 ... 93.8%.

The best result so far this year, at least for a player with say 15 possessions or more (ie., something worth considering), was Watts with 96.3% in Rnd 1 vs The Saints. Might have been playing off FB for a good part of the match to achieve this. Someone here might remember the details.

I haven't seen the presser but if that's what was said then I don't get WTF is going on. We were told 3 pre-season ago it would take that long to get up to scratch, fitness-wise.

In case you weren't pay attention, the two pre-seasons before Roos' took over were awful and completely mismanaged the group. They spent almost no time practicing basic skills, instead being exhausted with running drills and time trials. From my eyes, it'll take this season alone just to get us back to where we were pre-Neeld.

The players said under Neeld they were so focused on fitness instead of the game plan, so they should be fit.

However, if Watts is dropped, it doesn't mean we are pinning the loss on him.

He gets dropped because his efforts weren't up to scratch. He needs to be able to play his role. Yes there was possibility for us to win, but i don't think Jack Watts's performance lost us the game. Your right though, he needs to develop those defensive skills, but i think it needs to be in the VFL. Give a mid fielder a go that is willing to play defensively as well as offensively.
