We have a saying at our house, when people talk without saying anything. Lipflap

Commentators can be experts at lipflap, their lips are moving but nothing important is coming out.

Blah blah rhubarb rhubarb blah blah, what do you think (insert name) Oh yes blah blah blah rhubarb blah rhubarb rhubarb blah blah. I couldn't have said it better myself blah blah

If you can't add to the picture , please shut up.

Perhaps there should be an annual lipflap award. The Brian Taylor Lipflap Award for the most noise without content..

I'd like to see something similar on Demonland. The (insert name of annoying Demonland poster) award for the most posting without valuable content. I know who I'd give it to.

You understand how hangman works, don't you? You've got to come up with the letters, not me. But, to be fair, I need to tell you it's a single word of ten letters.

I'm pleased to say that in another thread chookfowler has correctly said "comparisons are odious".

Which reminds me of Andy Maher continually saying "comparisons are onerous".

And Rohan Connolly on the weekend said, "The proof is in the pudding". Never mind that the correct expression is "The proof of the pudding is in the eating".

You don't put brandy, 100 proof, in your Christmas pudding ???

The difference is for the most part they can see the whole ground, that's what you lose from watching on TV and so much happens off the ball that they could be telling us about.

. So pi55es me off no end the continual zooming in on a player especially one having a kick from a free or mark, whilst there may be some interesting tactical maneuvering down field.

Some of Cometti's best work.

'If he kicks this there is no telling what the score will be'

'if they keep winning they will be hard to beat this season'

On Brock McLean - "wow he is deceptively slow"

One of his and my favourites 'he crept up on him like a librarian, no one heard him coming'

Bruce's best of all time.

Collingwood v West coast approx. 8 years ago, both Shannon and Dean Cox playing. Dean Cox goes for a run down the wing, what followed next still make me laugh to this day.

'ohhhh Denis, I like Cox, not little Cox, big Cox'

very start of the match, they're rabbiting on about how it was uncharacteristic from the co-captain jones, needs to redeem himself, he won't be happy with himself etc etc.. then the replay FINALLY reveals that it was in fact Spencer who gave away the free and Cross who gave away the 50.. and when this was clear they didn't even bother correcting themselves. Pack of utter dheads.

A few years ago when the TV commentary team were discussing who they'd choose to kick for goal if their life depended on it, Cometti suggested he'd like his mother to take the shot. Then he explained that she mightn't be the best kick for goal but at least she'd care.

Edit: spelling

Suggesting that your mum "take a shot" is a bit vulgar!

OK Dee-vina you have tantalized me for too long. It must be Demonflogg. ( Forgive my spelling but I had to make it fit. Please please say I'm correct!

Absolutely. I'm not interested if the player needs a shave. Why oh why do they do it?

Can we switch from Hangman to Wheel of Fortune? Then you could buy a vowel (of which there are three...all different).

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
