Changes next week - what to do?

Gawn has to replace Pederson and Blease must come in.

Might stop us from losing by over 100 points, maybe lose by around 40

Selectors have a couple of challenges. Firstly to to match up on a very big strong defence and secondly to get far more aggression into our blokes. Yet again our list seems big and strong enough but we never seem to get them on the field. Even before games start our match ups and structures are underweight and give the opposition many options against us. 51 points just doesn't cut it and I would like to know who is going to kick goals for us.

The forward line seems like the biggest problem and is going to remain that way for some time. We need to do something in the meantime until Dawes and Hogan are fit. Maybe we should consider Frawley forward and Pederson back? The addition of Gawn would definitely help.

Who is left to bring in? Clark, Hogan, Dawes, Fitzpatrick, Jamar, Gawn, Garland, McDonald - almost all our tall timber are gonna be on the sidelines. Should we try Dunn forward? I seriously have no idea what we can do its like shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic and West Coast will f-log us by triple figures.

Seriously f-log is censored?

Gawn obviously comes in but if Fitzy doesn't come up then we probably have to keep Pedersen forward.

If McDonald does come up (and given how sore he was I think he wont) then we might need Pedersen down back. If West Coast play 2 rucks plus Kennedy (Frawley), Darling (Georgiou) and Sinclair then we need someone bigger than Dunn.

Blease for Byrnes is obvious. Keep JKH as sub I think.

Most of the rest of the running players went ok.

Did Viney not play VFL? Jetta apparently ok but so were our small defenders.

Anyone above 6'2 please come and have a kick in the forward line.

Boot studders, cheer squad members, banner constructors, old lovers of the players, whoever!

If you are 6'2 and taller, please come and have a run in our forward line next week.

Sat next to David Neitz in the crowd. Suggested he would be a chance of a game. Didn't look too unfit!

pederson is a list filler and was there to fill about 3 vacant places we have.

thought he did his best for the type of delivery thrown towards him.

no complaints.

gawn, wont be playing unless fit and can obey the new team rules.i like that.

No complaints about Pedersen really? Couldn't take more than just 1 mark on the lead all night. Missed a goal from 10m out. Generally slow and inept. There's a reason he was converted to train with the backline, he just has absolutely no impact forward. Down back he's so slow that he's not much better but if a match up can be found for him he might offer something as a depth defender if McDonald is injured.

Gawn's now played 3 Casey games I think. If Fitzy or McDonald is out he's a shoe in, if not he's still better value as the second ruck and playing Fitzy as the key forward and getting rid of Pedersen.

Excited to see Viney in a photo from the Casey thread. As long as he played enough game time to be match fit then he has to come in. Even if he's the sub.

The Spencer hate from last night's game is a historical one. People just remember him being unco and therefore can't recognise what he did. He was excellent last night rucking basically unchanged thanks to Fitzy's injury. Did very well and worked hard.

I agree that Gawn should come in, but I think that Pederson may play back if McDonald can't play. I'm not a fan of just plonking a ruckman in the square full time, but it's clear that we need at least some form of target for a long kick inside 50. If it doesn't work then sub him out.

I don't hate Spencer and yes he rucked all night and had a go. But he didn't get one hit out to advantage that I can recall. His marking around the ground is non-existent.

I would say 12 disposals, 40 hitouts, and 9 tackles is better than what we would have got from a fit Jamar last night, so it's not like we have a better option.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
