And all before a ball is kicked in anger

A week and a half before a ball is kicked in anger..Demonland has gone into meltdown

We win a game against the tigers......All of a sudden we are going to win 6-10 games No worries......Our midfield is great....Al our recruits are going gangbusters....Smiles and confidence abound

We have a close game against Geelong, make a few mistakes, but still took it up to them for the whole games.....Reaction same as above

We get smashed by the best team in the competition ....All of a sudden we have the worst list in the competition .....Players have to go.....Why didn't we pick Wines, Darling etc...etc ...etc ....Toumpas is a spud after one season.....

WYL....Is banging on about the past seven years and 186(again)
Old Dee....Is looking forward to doom and destruction for the rest of his life

All of a sudden people want to get rid of our experienced players (Dunn/Frawley) to get higher compensation in the draft.....I thought that was our downfall when Jr and a few other were delisted or forced into retirement......

All I ask is that we look forward to the 2014 season without sacking most of the players, coaching staff, football dept, boot studders,

I wish all D/L's the best for the footy season.......Hope you can enjoy the ups and downs it will provide

Thanks Bossdog.

After a long preseason on Demonland I think everyone just jumped at the opportunity to lower their expectations heading into round 1. Glass was half full and now its half empty but at least there is something in the glass.

I am on the bandwagon, only have a concern over the forward structure for the first couple of games, but think Roos is good enough to work it out.

I am more than please we are capable of getting our hands on the ball now, if we can get the forward structure working can see the Richmond game and better becoming the norm

Had a good chat to Jack Grimes recently, he is still confident everything is going in the right direction, the message has got through to the players, you need to play your role or you won't be in the team, Roos' line in the sand comment at his presser after the Hawks game underlined again loud and clear

Bossdog, I love your post, but surely you should not read Demonland if you expect anything less. Demonland is an outstanding vent for us poor supporters frustration. Personally, I enjoy all the dump this person, fire that person threads. Generally they are a good laugh........ except the "Time to go Mark Neeld", that was the one time I truly believed that someone really needed to be shown the door and quickly. By the way how did it take until round 12 to get rid of him?

If we beat the Saints I look forward to the "we can make the 8" post, if god help us we loss I look forward to the "trade everyone" post. I for one will probably be venting!

I'm with you Bossdog.

This is a crazy environment. I would hate to be working in this quagmire of pessimism and gloom.

Bring on the season and let's see what we can do. We are heading in the right direction.

I agree with you Saty except I am so sick of hearing from the players that we are on the right track that I now just ignore it. From what I can see it looks like our defensive side has improved but we still struggle offensivly.

We need to be able to break away from our opposition and move the ball quickly and more freely. It would help having Clark/Dawes/Hogan/Howe leading up the wings.

Wow Bossdog I feel like I am finally having my five minutes of fame at this tender age.

Thank you I was beginning to think I would pass on without one.

Your comment is fairly accurate I firmly believe that in my life time the best I can hope for is a MFC that is respectable and wins more than it loses.

After nearly a decade at the bottom I think it will take the better part of a similar period to achieve my desired position.

I hope you younger bodies can see more.

I am sceptical about this year for two main reasons.

- We have a list that has been changed in a small way but still has a long way to go

- We are still short of experienced players to show the way and hold things together while the kids are developed.

I expect that we will be better than last year but we would surely struggle to be worst.

After the last half century the MFC has worn me down Bossdog you will just have to endure my scepticism.

Hi Reverend I never cease to marvel at your ability to shrug off 18 goal losses.

You must have a mental shell as hard as a turtle.

I hope he turned up to training, with that sort of resilience he'd probably get a run against the saints.

WYL never stopped banging on about 186. Aside from that it's a highly factual post.

you love reading about 186 Stuie. The greatest day.

When your hero Beamer was asleep by halftime

Bails lost his job whilst the CEO kept his.

Such a proud day it was.....

I do it for you Stuie...

Just got my brand new training top (they look fabulous even on an old fart like me) and I feel rejuvenated, just like I believe our beloved Dees will be in 2014. I'm not expecting miracles, but I feel certain that my optimism will prove warranted over the course of the year!

I suspect I am around your age OD so thanks for the "younger bodies" comment....just feel that if you go into a season without a little confidence you may as well just pack it in

Get with the rev, smile and be happy.....It's a lot better than being a gloomy gus

I hope you get just a little bit of happiness out of the year

All the best

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
