Hawks got bugger all because as the winner of the flag their first round pick was 18. The compo for such highly paid players is the next pick after their first round pick.

Its sad to say but we are almost certain to finish last and therefore have pick number 1. And if Frawley gets a long term deal around the 700k mark we will get pick 2.

I appreciate that but I sure he was at the top of the rest of the criteria.

This is utter crap.

It's also worth remembering the average salary is up to $300k now.

That's a player like Rohan Bail, Blease or Tapscott.

Average players.

Do you think Frawley is worth 2&1/2 of those types?

I know he is.

In your opinion. I'm not the only one who says these things Machsy. There are plenty of people who see it.

You're responding in a way that sounds like it's really affecting you. That there are some who don't share the love you have for the guy.

The point you're bringing up about what he is worth compared to some others on our list is irrelevant. You're still stuck in the box Machsy. Get out and have a look around.

We need to bring other players into our club. Those three nqr's might also have to move on but they're not going to bring us a compo pick are they? That's why we're discussing Frawley and whether or not him leaving would be of benefit for the club.

watch that errors video on this thread, half of the really bad errors are frawley. all in one game he had a few errors that directly cost goals

I've seen it in footage and live and as others have stated, he's not the only one.

However, as one of our senior and more experienced players, you'd be expecting more so I'm with you with what you say in that regard.

I don't want to pot him, I just genuinely believe there are players on our list including Frawley who are so stuck in their ways and habits of playing and it's killing the club. Killing it.

Nathan Jones is the only player on our list who I can confidently say has improved his game every year since being drafted.

It's a damning fact. We need another clean slate. But this time, we need to trade, recruit and develop WELL.

I'd argue Colin Garland has improved also

To those fantasizing about Wines, save yourselves the disappointment and forget it. He only just extended his contact and no sane player leaves a club as strongly cultured as Port. They're on fire at the moment.

They'll make him vice captain within two years, probably captain within 3 or 4.

We should get in the ear of Lachie Hanson

The compo system is such that we shouldn't go near another free agent. We should target other uncontracted players instead.

I think you might be right and the way things are looking we may have plenty of room under the salary cap. Rather pay up a little bit for a really promising type with a few years on the clock, than massive overs for someone approaching twilight.

Watching Chip play the other night I noticed he's lost the "Animal" he used to have, or so it seems to me.

When he was playing in AA form he hated getting beaten in any contest and would visibly show it, but he just doesn't seem to have that outward aggro he used to. Perhaps that's what years of defeat can do to the spirit.

As I said on another thread he's nowhere near his best at the moment, but hopefully when Col Garland gets back he will start to fire up again.

Or some guys are just lucky to get AAs!

Minson, Gaspar, JWhite, Frawley.

Frawley has rarely had composure coming out of the backline. He cannot consistently hit easy targets. If he can get 800k, good luck to him; but as Lloyd said, he is worth only 4-500k tops. He is an average footballer, with the capacity to play on talls. He aint slow. Add it all up and he is worth a little more than the average AFL wage. In other words, Lloyd is spot on about him.

FMD.

Short memories, small brains.

Steve, the fact you go along with the crowd is not something to be proud of.

This isn't having one iota of an effect on me personally.

It's just stupefying to see so many supporters with so little clue.

show me one good example of james frawley leading from the front in the last two years, or even something to balance the negative effect his actions of the last two weeks have provided.

Now your talking lets go for Cameron rather than Patton. Cameron reminds me more of Tony Lockett

I actually feel sorry for Frawley.

He is a good player and has had to endure being part of the worst team in memory that goes from one disaster to the next.

Guess what he has run out of enthusiasm for the MFC in 2014.

Now there is a surprise.

We are all lording Clark but some how Frawley is a bum because he his exhausted by the MFC after playing his whole career at the bottom of the ladder.

Get off his back. The guy has given his all for seven long years

If he goes I for one will find it difficult to be critical.

Get the best deal you can and if that is not at the MFC then good luck and thanks for the effort you have put in.

One thing is for sure we have to get in the game. Let Frawley go and lets go get some talent, some performing talent.

Just read in the Age that Alex McDonald(agent) has denied shopping Chip around and has denied setting an asking price....He has not even discussed any asking price with Chip so it would be very hard to be putting numbers to other clubs and setting prices.

It amazes me that posters bag the c*ap out of chip for a rumour that has no apparent truth to it...

Every free agent will look elsewhere as it is the nature of the business that is Free Agency

Players salaries are not made public and are often exaggerated by the media....ie...they are guessing.

Now Bossdog I have no desire to get into a slanging match with you so think nice.

Agent says believe me I am telling you the truth.

Who would I give the most credence ?

The media or a player agent?

Tough decision, at this minute it is a draw till further evidence surfaces.

I can only assume its related to self-preservation.

Some supporters would rather convince themselves we're better off without him, than potentially see him walk out the door and be not only a required player, but a highly valued asset.

"He's leaving? Good! Didn't like him anyway! Poor leader - I saw him jog once..."

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
