Hey guys,

You may remember at the AGM that PJ mentioned that there was to be a new sponsor/ corporate partner that was to come on board sometime this month.

Do we know when this is likely to happen (unless I've missed something) and who the new company may be?

I'm always excited by these types announcements as more corporate support is always good news!

In case anybody's wondering, a number of posts have been removed from this thread due to the removal of an earlier post by its author.

Without that post, everything else didn't really make sense so it's best left out unless we can start again with what the author believes can appropriately be said.

So should be getting something soon?

Also is it a decent sized sponsor?

He doesn't know.

I think that makes sense!

The conclusion to this matter might come March 14 at the commencement dinner.

The only stronger announcement they could make would be that chip had re-signed and that's unlikely prior to the season proper.

I always miss the stuff the gets removed :)

Why should we start worrying now about what here makes sense and what doesn't? Hasn't been a problem before. :-)))))

Seems a very strange night to hold the commencement dinner. Didn't they look at the fixture - it clashes with the first match of the season.

You know what? In this case you're correct.

I was just passing on the basic info that was detailed in the since-deleted post.

You must feel proud of yourself.

Why, its only Pies v Dockers at Etihad? Who cares? For those few that do care, there is taping available and a whole night of replays on Fox Footy.

Man, I was getting so confused with what was going on on this thread...

I'm guessing that the new sponsor isn't looking at apparel sponsorship because I'm sure MFC don't want to be changing jumpers/shorts the night before our first match.

A couple of years ago the Bluey Truscott night coincided with an AFL Preliminary Final also involving Collingwood.

Fortunately, in this day of AFL iPhone apps it's possible to attend the commencement dinner, keep up with the evenings AFL activities and watch the game AND be rude and unsociable to the others at your table - all at the same time!

Quite so if your only interest in footy is MFC but mine goes a lot further and I find the first game of an AFL season very enjoyable. It's when the real stuff starts and marks the spot in time we've been waiting for all preseason. Watching a replay is of little value when you in all likelihood the result will be known.

To organize this function on this night when so many other nights would have been available seems odd to me and rather poor planning.

Stay home & watch the game then.

I suppose they thought a friday night with most having the day off the next day would maximise attendance.

I think you are in a very, very small minority.

I don't think many MFC fans would feel the same as you, if they could either attend the season opener function and hear the Coach and meet the players, or stay home and watch the pies. If money was not a factor I think the result would be 99.9% in favour of attending the function.

Also they probably wanted it to be just before the season opener and so that limits it to only a couple of options and other weekend options would also involve another club's TV game.

I agree but why does it have to be either/or? It could so easily be "both". If 5 people make the decision not to go because it clashes with the opening night that $1,000 lost.

After all, I could stay at home, save $200, watch the opening game of the season and then go to the website and most likely see all the presentations by the coaches/players anyway.

I'm going but I don't understand the scheduling.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
