Gee Clark injured, Dawes injured, Hogan injured... Might be a remote possibility we're already thinking about it, especially given Roos already said Clark was going to be a ruck rather than a forward.

You obivously just don't pay much attention.

So when we have injuries it means we should ask our recruiters to go replace them? oookay then. If Clark is meant to play in ruck and he is going to quit then the sooner we know the earlier Viney and Taylor can look into getting another good ruckman to replace him. Forward or Ruck the sooner we know the sooner work can begin on replacing. His intended position is irrelevant.

Harry O'Brien

If memory serves, he was granted a few days personal leave and was back at training not long after that. Are they really comparable?

I actually agree the thread should be locked til we have any further developments to discuss.

To suggest that Clark's future being in limbo at this point of the season is a hinderance to the recruiting team is a nonsense.

The recruiters would already be factoring in the possibility of no Clark, Dawes Jamar and Gawns injuries not allowing them to play again and Frawley leaving. It's called contingencies. Where it becomes an issue in when players futures are not known post season and very close to draft time ( or even post draft - as Cam Bruce going disadvantaged us).

Do you think that Hawthorn recruiters didn't factor in the possibility of Buddy leaving even though he kept them guessing for so long ?

How many games have Clark and Dawes played the last 2 years? Maybe, just maybe the recruiters are thinking it might be time to get another in hey...

I thought you said his position was what we needed to know so we could get the recruiters onto it? Now apparently "His intended position is irrelevant"? You're more indecisive than all our kicks yesterday combined.

I should have figured you wouldnt understand what that meant so I will spell it out for you.

If he is intended to play ruck then we will need to think about getting in the ear of another ruckman to fill the void of Clark leaving.

If he is intended to be a forward then we will need to fill the gap if he leaves.

It is irrelevant if he would be a forward or a ruck as him leaving would leave a gap which recruitment would need to fill.

Mitch please come back, we need you. Even on one leg we need you.

Mitch, even in a wheel chair you would do better than the current lilliputian forward line.

Please come back.

Pathetic post, no relevance or arguments to the discussion at all. No idea why I unblocked you.

If you think it wont make a difference to recruiters knowing our most expensive dominant ruck/forward will be on our list or not matters your delerious.

If Taylor and Viney have an extra 600k to spend I am sure it would help knowing in April rather then September so they could plan ways to use it.

Hmmm maybe they've already planned for it, and also planned for other things... Maybe they have more than one option? Do you think that's a possibility? Or maybe they're just sitting around waiting to hear what will happen... yeah that's probably it.

Do you think it would be better to put those plans into motion in April or October?

Given they are "plans" and nothing can even happen until October, it doesn't matter.

Just like Hawthorn have done nothing to replace Brian Lake with Frawley right?

Frawley is wearing yellow and brown next week is he? Or have they just made plans... Hmmmmmmm

They have spoken to his management and made it public they wish to have him at the club next year.

And when a player of Frawleys quality comes up you will find that most clubs will talk to his management.

What about clubs giving their older players until right before the end of the season to decide whether or not they will go on ? How does that affect recruiters.

And how about undetermined leg problem candidates like Dawes ? Would you suggest he let them know how he is going to be by year end and how he will be going forward so the recruiters can plan around him ?

The Lake/Frawley scenario is a nonsense argument - Hawthorn have one weakness in their list - it is a key back. The same as Roo's was always going to be in the ear of every single midfielder because it was apparent what we needed.

You suggest that recruiters need to know if our most expensive ruckman/forward will play next season - I agree - but 2 matches into this season ? If he lets them know mid year it won't make a lick of difference.

You'd be sad too if you choose Melbourne over Freo

Don't know if it's worth much, but Clark just drove right past me looking fairly relaxed. I'm not far from AAMI Park, and he might just live in the area.. coincidence? Probably.

You can look something and feel something completely different, wouldn't look into it deeply though.

At least we know he is still in Melb and not in Perth which I take as a good (hopeful) sign

Not to say I know anything of the situation but I'd imagine his time away from the club wouldn't be substantial. You'd imagine that at this time he'd be at the club supporting the boys. It's what he should be doing. Tbh I expect him to be playing half-way through the year.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
