Dees trade Jamar as clean-out continues

Mark Jamar has apparently mutually agreed with the MFC to be traded.

WHats his currency? I would say at best 2nd rounder but most likely somewhere in the 3rd or 4th round.

Does this mean we may use Mitch Clark in the ruck or are we going to rely on our three inexperienced ruckman?

Great news. If anyone wonders what the difference will be between Roos and Neeld, here is a prime example. Neeld offers him a three year contract, Roosy comes in and tells Jamar what we've all known for ages...."You've had one good year in 10, see you later".

Didn't see that coming, he only re-signed comparatively recently.

Clearly, more going on than we know about, in spite of our best efforts in the Rumour Mill thread ...

What a crock.

2years ago when I said he should be traded while at the top of his worth I got very, very little support

Redleg says "hello".

As foreshadowed previously, we are going to have a substantial turnover of players by the end of the FA/trade period and recruiting is not just about the young but about young, old and in between.

We will need experienced heads to fill the gap left by Jamar/Sylvia and Jolly would probably make an equivalent to Jamar. I just hope he's fit enough to play around 14 games (edit: plus finals).

Perhaps we could look at picking up Paul Chapman as another who could add some class and experience to our playing list).

Seems like a decent strategy. Get some value out of Jamar with a trade, then sign Jolly for nothing as a delisted free agent. Jolly is a plug-and-play replacement for Jamar so essentially it's all win and no loss (assuming other clubs think Jamar has any value whatsoever - which is doubtful in and of itself)

Wouldn't hold my breath. Suspect that this is as much about letting him go without having to pay out his contract as anything. If anyone wants to take him off our hands, we're probably already in front.

You would have had my support! Should never have been the preferred ruckman at the time of Jolly

So poor around the ground tapped the ball at his feet to no advantge Couldnt believe Neeld gave him 3 years Must be the luckiest guy alive

Haha you and me both mate people couldn't believe I could consider tradin one of our "A-graders".

It's a good decision by the club but I can't really see anyone bailing us out on this one.

I mentioned this in the rumour thread. If Jamar is traded why don't we go after Billy Longer?

We could trade Pick 2 and Jamar (can be reunited with Beamer) for Longer and pick 7.

Then we could still draft Freeman most likely. Plus hawks miss out on their ruckman!

Make it happen boys. :)

Good mates with Moloney and Sylvia.

If he's traded, that's it - all of the players from that period are gone.

Also pretty ironic if we effectively swap Jolly for Jamar, given that we traded Jolly to the Swans and kept Jamar in about 2003/4.

Reckon our best chances of off loading him are probably to Collingwood given they now only have Grundy & Witts with Hudson on the rookie list or Port Adelaide who still don't have a dominate ruckman with neither Lobbe or Renouf yet to really establish themselves.

Hawthorn are also a potential suitor as they may feel it's to soon for Longer to be the number 1 ruck and Hale is best suited to a forward/ruck role.

Sorry WJ can't understand what u r talking about re finals.

What's that?????

It's been so long I am having trouble remembering.

Port won't want him. Once Big Red went down, Lobbe was one of the competition's dominant ruckmen, operating solo in the back half of the year.

Hawks as Pies are both going with youth as their rucks (with Hale and Q Stick able to offer some support), while GWS have got Mumford.

I expect the size of his contract will be a major impediment - will we be, yet again, part-paying a bloke who's not on our list?

I wonder how much Jamar is on. perhaps we could trade him to Sydney as their back-up ruckman behind Pyke. They will be short on ruckman with Jesse White and Mumford both leaving. They wouldn't want Tippet to have to do too much ruck work either. I wonder if could do a switch of players with them to lessen their salary cap burden, maybe a "Smith" and we part pay Jamars contract next year. Jamar might be up for that trade too i..e chance of premiership etc.

You had mine, I posted about it for the last two years and hope that he nets us a decent mid.

If Giles goes GWS really only have Mummy. That could help a deal happen.

Hawks also need a ruck man and there is a deal there too.
