The thing that continually makes me laugh is that supposedly its only NOW that some of this sports major luminaries have discovered that the COLA was just being used to enhance the general funds for paying players and not all equally as it was intended.

And that too can be argued, as some suburbs in Melbourne attract a far higher average home price than Sydney.

Am I missing something? I thought clubs couldn't approach/offer contracts to players until after these periods had commenced? Or is it one rule for some and another for the rest??

The thing that up-sets me about this is that the extra $900pa that Sydney have in salary cap is essentially what they are paying Buddy. Sydney get a superstar for their extra salary cap. The living assistance salary cap is out-dated and must go.
