Ive read on the AFL app news that Sean Wellman has left the Bombers!!!

I was very disappointed he left us, as he was replaced by Brian Royal and with him our backline organisation fell apart..

I would love to have him back with us !!!

Anybody else feel this way?

He walked out on us before whilst still contracted IIRC. If Roos wants him, I do too though.

Almost Agree Theo, I have said this before he had signed a new contract the week before walking out.

Can rot in the Northern waste lands for mine.

Why did we not hold him to his contract then?

Why did we not hold him to his contract then?

Probably for times like this when we want to poach people from Sydney backgrounds. Or when Neeld went after a lot of Collingwood support staff (and then they didn't let us get Jason Taylor but I digress).

Personally I think it's good practice. Holding a guy hostage for a contract isn't a great idea and Wellman probably would've fought with Neeld even more than Rawlings did.

But I'm glad he's seen the light and bailed on the sinking bombers. Their defenders and Jake Carlisle in particular will be quite upset. Just like Frawley and Garlo were when he left us.

Should go after him, our backline was very good in 2010 before he left and he's a big part of the reason Chip was AA.

No Chip Frawley was a big part of why Chip Frawley was AA in 2010.

Correct on releasing Wellman.

I am not sure why we are so keen to entice him given he is stepping away from AFL all together. I would have thought the past 2 years would be bruising and dispiriting whether you were directly involved in the supplements circus or on the periphery.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

We need to get the best coaches and assistants into the club, he is easily one of the best defensive coaches in the AFL. To do this we need to move on and stop caring about the past, stop relying on past legends of our club and let go of this ridiculous grudge by some.

He along with Rawlings under Roos will help the club go forward and will also likely help secure the signature of Frawley post 2014 season.

Right, and Wellman had nothing to do with it at all?

Do you actually know what role Wellman had? I don't ......you certainly don't. Not sure why you made the big claim.

Apparently he wants to finish a university degree.

After the saga of Essadon '13 he probably realises that there is a real life and a real world outside football.

What makes you think Wellman would want to leave one club under drug use investigation, and go to another?

As the defensive line coach I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest he may have had something to do with our key defender...

That may well be the case or it may be not. Its far more supportable position than a "large part"

Duhhh. If a player does achieve something then its highly probable that the player has had alot to do with it...

And where did I say there was no Wellman.?

Unless they're involved in the inner workings of the FD, a supporter in the stands is only guessing what the level of actual involvement or influence of any of the assistant coaches.

And Gonzo was not been involved in the MFC FD when Wellman

He might be a good coach, but he seems prone to jumping ship...

I must say when I first read this yesterday I completely agreed with you. Although I don't think it's entirely the case.

Firstly he left to us to rejoin his old club he played his career at alongside old friends, if say Brad Green or Junior Mac did the same after being recognised as amazing assistants at their retrospective clubs I believe the vast football community would understand if they wanted to come back to the MFC.

And now after a year of hell and controversy, having his name somewhat tarnished under his old and trusted friend Hird I don't blame him if he wants to get out of football and have a break.

Get a life mate, got far more important things to do than argue semantics wih a nerd on an internet forum.

While Wellman was at Melbourne, our backline developed very well.

While Wellman was at Essendon, their backline developed very well.

Correlation doesn't prove anything, of course, but from the outside that pattern is pretty convincing.

Good line coach for the defence, I'd take him back at Melbourne quite happily. But if he's taking his leave for a while, I'm not crying.

There may be extenuating circumstances, but he definitely has jumped ship at least twice nonetheless.

Not sure what the details are of his exit from the bulldogs, but if he did a similarly impressive job there, I think it could be 3.

Not is they had just signed a contract with another club, it just shows the character of the Hird organisation to my mind. I don't want people like him and Corcoran anywhere near our club.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
