List management meeting at 10.30 tomorrow. Straight into it. Says he already has players in his mind that he wants

And so it begins.

I expect some very swift news on de-listments.

Importance of midfield depth underscored by Tiges today.

We just need more natural ball winning mids so we have the rotations required.

& from the bit I saw later in the game fitness & workrate... when I switched it back on the tigers just took back the lead in the 3rd, but they kept murdering the ball, 7 also just bombed it long forward... very frustrating as it was go Nowhwere footy. losing footy..

I can only assume this was partly due to lacking fitness & leg tired skills, & some dumb footballers. the carlton class shone thru, when the tigers were tired I feel.

also I think tyson vickery has stalled & should have come on more in the past 15 months... he looks lethargic & footy dumb, lazy... he needs to change or he will waste his talents there.

the tigers have a lot of work to do to become the real McCoy.

I find it funny that I bet Roos will be trying to do exactly what Neeld tried to do last season - trade some talented senior players and some fillers, although he'll definitely attract a better quality than Neeld. I feel for Mark Neeld as his strategy was right to a degree, just couldnt pull it off.

he didn't have the Profile to start with, & that may explain in some form why he went in with a sledgehammer from the start, instead of a smile.

but he was on the right track to crack open the rubbish culture & quickly move out the bad apples & the ones who had no more changing left in them.

Im a bit skeptical as Roos has come out and said he is willing to trade pick 2. I only hope that only if we get another priority pick. Im all for trading for a gun midfielder but we also need to keep rebuilding our midfield with hard body kids.

Also the players he had available to him in the free agency last year were not as good as the older ones that could be available this year!

That fellow Wines who played for Port yesterday, looked handy.

So did those cornea, ebert, hartlett and boak characters

Possibly a Geelong one for Ablett that floated around being GC and GWS and mini trades and so on. But yes I believe they do but I wouldn't at all be surprised if it heads to Essendon in exchange for Bellchambers. If GWS pay the coin and convince him to come it's the right trade value for a ready made decent enough and young enough ruck. It's about what Jolly got traded for twice.

Why would GWS offer a lot of coin to Bellchambers and give up pick 10 for him. He is out of contract and if he is going there for the money he can walk through the PSD?

Somehow I don't see Roos trading picks for nuffies like Gillies.

Although I also back Roos to turn Gillies into a semi decent player.

The possibilities!

Also for anyone worried about Roos trading pick 2, worry not. He quite clearly say that philosophically he isn't against it, but it depends what is available. He knows that there is some midfield talent at pick 2, so won't trade for fringe players.

Gillies will never be a decent player I believe. Delisted this year hopefully.

Neeld tried to do what he had to do - when Roos trades picks this year, he'll be getting a better quality of player because of his influence and reputation.

They just didn't want it badly enough 'dee-luded'. To many of their players weren't willing to do what it takes, they put their arm out at the ball instead of attacking with their body in line with the ball. They also badly missed Conca who was one of the ones that does attack the ball in the right way.

Coaching errors again with a coach in his first final, he didn't do anything to stop Judd's influence until it was too late. 5 to 10 mins was all he needed and when they got a run on he stuck to pre conceived rotations rather stopping the bleeding. The obvious one, which is a mistake he makes over and over in tight situations was not having his A team particularly Maric in for centre bounce downs when the game has turned. Hardwick seems a good week day coach but comes up short on match day, he doesn't have a good feel for the game.

All very possible imo, Sheil would be the toughest to get, Adams i'd say we're a fair chance with Roosy on board, Adams and Gaff would be nice, would compliment each other very well, reckon pick 10 would be enough to get Gaff?

I'm sorry that we couldn't do a deal last year on Farren Ray. I know we tried hard. Good outside player with pace.

I couldn'r believe some of the basic mistakes I saw in the bits I watched.. I cringed because I so wanted them to smash the M&M Blues.

one was I think early 3rd Qtr ball going across to the outer wing, blonde tiger rushed to contest the marking duel making a 50/50 out of a certain blue possession, the ball spilled toward the wing where a contest ensued with a spare tiger (2 on 1),,, they stuffed it up & the ball went out!!! then went to the blue forwards who goaled, the start of blue period of control... the midfield of tiges was either stuffed or lazy... rubbish supply to their forwards,,,, & a open carlton forwardline every time, one on one...

leadership wise I think thompson & sewell would both be excellent examples for our kids. experience & leadership... & strong mature bodies.... & I'd like us to trade hard for a couple of the kids as well... I just reckon not all has been well at west coast & this is our opportunity to repatriate gaff... as well as possibly selwood.

we definately need a quality example for our young mids to follow and some real support for jones, viney and Sylvia, offer Thompson a 3 year deal and see what he says?

theyll pay the coin to convince him to go. Plus they'll have the cash, may as well spend it. And they'll trade just like every other team do because forcing players into the PSD is a dangerous move. GWS do it to Bellchambers all of a sudden Melbourne do it to Taylor Adams and so on

Why do we get pick one? Didn't GWS finish below us?

I wouldn't be Cross if Daniel jumped on board.

In all honesty, I don't think we should be so quick to draft players like Shiel, Adams and Swallow. They're guns, no doubt, but none of them have tasted much success and in order to bring a culture of success to the club it is essential that the leaders understand what that feels like!

Dale Thomas. Get it done coach. I reckon the Pies iced him as he won't be there next year.

I rate thomas but he is not a genuine midfielder.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
